Warner Bros. Pictures and DC have already made a huge splash at Comic-Con International: San Diego today with their various announcements and reveals – most notably dropping the Wonder Woman trailer and shockingly unveiling a Justice League teaser as well as the film’s first official image – but perhaps the most pleasant surprise of the day is the studio’s commitment to a lighter tone and an unabashedly fun nature. Both of which are being brought to the table by the actors as well as the team behind-the-scenes. It appears as though everyone apart of the universe is truly enjoying making these films and sharing it with their fans.
Having a bit of fun himself, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice star Henry Cavill decided to check out the Suicide Squad panel for himself before making his way to Hall H for The Justice League conference. Soaking in the sights and sounds of Comic-Con, while creating a bit of an alter-ego of his own, Cavill ingeniously takes to the floor of the convention seemingly unrecognized.
Sporting the iconic Guy Fawkes mask from V for Vendetta, Henry Cavill wondered the main floor of San Diego Comic-Con, meanwhile filming his latest hijinks. Fortunately enough for fans, the Superman actor has posted these antics on his personal Instagram account. Take a look:
Enjoying everything that San Diego Comic-Con had to offer, Cavill even took a few pictures with DC film fans, tracked down an issue of a Superman comic book, and stood in line to snag a photo op with one of Suicide Squad‘s premiere stars, Will Smith. Seemingly fooling everyone walking the floor of the convention (including Smith himself), Cavill has once again proved that most people do not recognize a hero when they see one out of costume.
This is, of course, not the first time that we have seen a star wonder aimlessly through the convention center sporting a mask and remaining incognito – Byan Cranston’s Heisenberg mask from a few years ago comes to mind – but nevertheless, it is still entertaining and enjoyable to watch. Frankly, with the uber-serious tone that the DC cinematic universe has been aiming for with this iteration of the Superman character, it is nice to see Cavill display some levity for the fans. The actor truly does contain loads of innate charm.
Cavill’s latest stunt serves to remind fans to keep their eyes peeled as they walk the convention center floor. If you happen to be at San Diego Comic-Con and see someone wearing a Guy Fawkes mask, chances are it is just some guy wearing a Guy Fawkes mask, but maybe, just maybe it’s Henry Cavill in disguise.
