Heidi Klum clones twins

The INSIDER Summary:

• This Halloween, Heidi Klum dressed up as herself plus five doppelgängers.
• The prosthetic artist who helped execute the look said it cost $10 million.

After an excruciating wait on Monday, supermodel Heidi Klum finally revealed her 2016 Halloween costume— and she wasn't dressed up at all. Instead, Klum dressed up five models to looks just like her, using matching outfits, wigs, and high-end prosthetics.

It may not have been the best of Heidi's iconic costumes, but it was certainly original.

It was also insanely expensive: A new report from toofab reveals that the look apparently cost $10 million

And you thought paying $165 for a sexy goldfish costume was nuts.

Toofab interviewed Dan Marino of Prosthetic Renaissance, the company with whom Klum collaborated for her costume. Marino described the long and grueling process of creating 6 nearly-identical Klums in one day — and he also revealed that the model is very particular with her Halloween plans.

"There's no changing Heidi's mind [once] she sees it in her head," Marino told toofab. "But that's what I like about working with her. She knows what she wants very clearly."

Each model wore prosthetics that were made from a mold of Klum's real face. It took two hours for Marino and a fellow artist, and a team of 7 assistants to finish each clone's prosthetic application. Then they were passed on to a makeup artist and hair stylist for final touches.

All that time — and all those masks — came with a price tag. Marino initially told toofab the cost was $10 million, and when the publication followed up to confirm that number, a Prosthetics Renaissance rep said this: "We can never give full details on payment, so we'll leave it up to your imagination!"

Our imagination definitely says $10 million.

Marino also addressed critics who thought Klum's non-costume was a cop-out.

"She didn't drop the ball. People are hard on celebrities and have big expectations," he said. "They forget that it's all fun in the end [...] She certainly surprised everyone with it, so I guess it turned out to be unpredictable. Which goes hand in hand with originality."
