Tori Spelling Star Magazine divorce headline

Former "90210" star Tori Spelling is blasting Star magazine for a false headline claiming she and her husband Dean McDermott are in the midst of a $300 million divorce.

Spelling took to her blog to dispute the report after her six-year-old son, Liam, read the headline in a grocery store check-out line and became upset.

“He was able to read two things out loud, the word DIVORCE (which he proudly sounded out) and the caption above his picture which read ‘Who will get the kids?’” She wrote.

“He became terrified. I had to hurry him and his confused 4-year-old sister Stella out of the grocery store and into our car. By the time he was fastening himself into his car seat he was asking, ‘Why is someone getting us?? Where are you and Dad going?’ He was anxiously biting his lower lip and his big blue eyes were filled with tears.”

Spelling made her point clear: “I’ve built up a pretty thick skin to the lies and trash talking at this point. But my children are another story. Keep them out of it!"

Read the entire "Open Letter to Star Magazine" below posted on Spelling's ediTORIal blog:

An Open Letter to Star Magazine

Here are the two things you learn quickly in the public eye when media publications are "reporting a story" about your life... That some publications are more reputable than others and they fact check their stories, and then one writes whatever story they want and repeatedly use the generic word "sources" to add an air of legitimacy. The second is that most publicists will tell their clients "no comment. This will pass". And it usually does. Then, the next week the tabloid is telling lies about another celebrity. Well, my publicists are as good as you can get and they aren't just business associates, I consider them close friends. But this time I had to comment because this time I'm answering not as a celebrity but as a mom.

At this point you might be wondering what I'm referring to while others have already seen the hateful story on the cover of this weeks Star magazine claiming that Dean and I are divorcing and many more horrible claims against my husband. Yes, the story will pass but what won't pass is what happened in a local supermarket check out line.

My son Liam is turning 6 in a couple weeks. His proudest achievement so far in his young life is that he is learning to read. Until now, when that pride turned to sorrow thanks to Star magazine. He first spotted me on the cover, then Dad, and then a picture of himself and his 3 younger siblings. He was able to read two things out loud, the word DIVORCE (which he proudly sounded out) and the caption above his picture which read "Who will get the kids?" He became terrified. I had to hurry him and his confused 4-year-old sister Stella out of the grocery store and into our car. By the time he was fastening himself into his car seat he was asking, "Why is someone getting us?? Where are you and Dad going?" He was anxiously biting his lower lip and his big blue eyes were filled with tears. My heart sank. How would I explain to my children that what these 3 writers who have never even met us but who claim to know the ins and outs of our relationship and have proudly put their names on this article are flat out writing lies?

I've always had shots taken at me. It's been almost 24 years since I became a public figure starting at age 16 with 90210. It's the downside to this business but I've built up a pretty thick skin to the lies and trash talking at this point. But my children are another story. Keep them out of it! I wonder if any of those 3 writers have children? How would they feel if their child had to read something so hurtful and confusing as what mine had to read? How do they sleep at night knowing they've potentially emotionally scarred and if nothing else terrified innocent children.

Driving home I repeatedly told my children, "That magazine doesn't know us. Daddy and I are very happy and in love. There will be no divorce and all of us will remain together as a family". Stella, my literal one, just kept saying "But then why is it on the magazine? Magazines are true." I wish that were always the case.

I'm lucky my two oldest are only 5 and 4 and couldn't read the fine details of the article where horrific claims were made against my husband, their Dad.

Again, you want to make inaccurate low blows at someone Star? Go for me! I can handle it. I always have. But don't do it to a man that has done nothing but loved me and our children. He has stood by me during the good times and held my hand through the darkest moments of my life.  I'm so blessed to have him as my partner in life and love and he is the best father to our four children.  I'm aware that all that matters is that we know our truth.  It’s just sad that our actual happiness would probably be deemed boring to Star Magazine. What kind of society have we become where love stories and fairytales are dead? That others’ failure is what people crave and what sells? That’s not the world I want my children growing up in. But I digress.

What is the outcome of this story? Easy...  Next week they'll be reporting about some other couple splitting or someone having a breakdown and this will  "have passed".  And, Dean and I will continue to love each other and our babies and be grateful for the lives we have. I know that. But, our children should never have to bear witness to lies and fabrications that affect their lives so that a media outlet can make money. That will always be wrong!

Brendan Fraser Afton Smith

Actor Brendan Fraser isn't raking in as much dough as he was in 1999 when he starred in "The Mummy."

After a 2007 divorce and massive professional expenses to agents, managers, etc., Fraser is currently behind on his monthly bills and owes $87,320.01, according to TMZ.

"Fraser filed docs in Connecticut recently as part of an ongoing battle with his ex-wife to lower his alimony payments, which currently sit at $50,000/month," reports TMZ. "According to Fraser, he makes about $205,704.04/month, but $112,803.25 goes to professional expenses, leaving him with $92,900.79."

According to the docs, Fraser makes an additional $25,800.28 from interest, but his expenses still outweigh his earnings.

Here's where Fraser's monthly earnings are going, according to docs obtained by TMZ:

  • Alimony: $50,000
  • Mortgages: $5,000+
  • Property tax: $6,000+
  • Income tax: $34,132.52
  • Child support: $25,000
  • Gardening: $5,200
  • Various insurances: $5,000+
  • Family support and gifts: $5,000+
  • Staffing: $3,000
  • Pet care: $7.77
  • And apparently, the list goes on and on ...

Luckily for Fraser, he has nine film projects lined up for 2013.

Here's The YouTube Video That Got Allison Williams Cast In 'Girls'

Allison WIlliams YouTubeIn Sunday night's episode of HBO's "Girls," Allison Williams' character, Marnie, reveals she wants to become a singer.

As it turns out, Williams — the daughter of NBC news anchor Brian Williams — happens to actually have a very good voice and it's what got her hired on the show in the first place.

In October 2012, Williams performed and recorded (in a single take) a twist on the "Mad Men" instrumental theme song set to the lyrics from "Nature Boy" and posted it to YouTube.

Luckily for Williams — then a Yale graduate just starting her career as an actress in Los Angeles "Girls" Executive producer Judd Apatow is a huge fan of "Mad Men" and was responsible for one of the over 900K hits the video has accrued on YouTube.

"I thought she would be the perfect counterpoint to Lena," Apatow told the L.A. Times in a recent feature on the actress. "A girl who seems to have it all figured out who is classically beautiful and wound a little tight."

However, "Girls" creator Lena Dunham wasn't as easily convinced.

"I thought 'gorgeous voice, great hair, what else is new in Hollywood,'" Dunham wrote via email to the newspaper. "I had to meet Allison to understand just how cheeky and intelligent that video really was, and just why Judd felt so strongly about her."

Watch the video that finally convinced Dunham and Apatow to cast Williams in "Girls" below:

Just two short years ago, Williams was posting numerous videos of herself acting and singing on YouTube to gain exposure.

"It's the new way of getting seen," Williams explained to the Times. "And I didn't want to not be ready when I could finally try out for the bigger stuff."

Williams' parents made her graduate from college before she was allowed to pursue acting. So during her summer breaks, she worked as Tina Fey's assistant and was a production assistant on Robert Altman's last movie, "A Prairie Home Companion."

"I wanted to learn the technical side of lighting and sound because, again, I wasn't allowed to start acting until I graduated college," she continued. "I wanted to know the drill. I wanted the first time I went on-set to act to be totally stressless, except for the acting."

In the meantime, she joined Yale's improv group, Just Add Water, and got her screen time by appearing in Web shorts.

In January 2010, Williams recorded this slower, ironic version of Ke$ha's song "Tik Tok," which currently has over 6.6 million hits on YouTube.

Watch below:

Williams also wrote and starred in a series of FunnyorDie videos, in which she played Kate Middleton.

Lucky for Williams, turns out she was right — web videos really are "the new way of getting seen." Even if you're Brian Williams' daughter.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Named Executive Editor Of 2 Body Building Magazines

Arnold Schwarzenegger book

Arnold Schwarzenegger can add "editor" to his already varied resumé.

The body builder-turned-actor-turned-politician will now serve as executive editor of Muscle & Fitness and Flex magazines, American Media Inc. announced.

“It was in these magazines that I found the spark that inspired me to start lifting weights, and eventually move to America and realize my dreams, and I’m proud to return as executive editor,” said Schwarzenegger in a statement.

“Bodybuilding has always been part of my life," he added. "I know Muscle & Fitness and Flex will continue to motivate others - as it did me - to lift weights and lead a healthy lifestyle, promote the sport of bodybuilding, and, as Joe used to say in every issue, 'exceed themselves.'"

Schwarzenegger, who will become group executive editor and a monthly columnist for the mags, briefly held the same position a decade ago.

But shortly after winning his gubernatorial election, he resigned amid criticism that there would be a conflict of interest given the publications’ dependence on advertising for dietary supplements and the governor’s role in regulating the industry.

But now  the former body building champ who has appeared on the magazines’ covers more than 60 times — is back.

Jamie Lee Curtis Blasts Seth MacFarlane's 'Boobs' Song In New Blog Post

Jamie Lee Curtis funny faceJamie Lee Curtis was so offended by Seth MacFarlane's "We Saw Your Boobs" Oscars song that she wrote a whole blog on The Huffington Post about it.

In a post titled "And the Oscar Goes to... Hell," the 54-year-old actress writes:

I am an actress who has bared her breasts in films to satisfy the requirement of the role I was asked to do -- lucky to do, for in my case, those films were significant in my career. I didn't like doing it. I didn't ask if I could do them topless. I did what was asked of me for the part I was playing. Mostly asked by men.

I know many may snicker at the now-aging, adult, almost grandma-like woman I am today, looking back and decrying my youthful exploitation, and say it's hard for me to cry foul when my body was my stock and trade.

But, Curtis writes, that is no excuse to overshadow the prestigious film awards with a crass song about body parts.

I was offended last week. As an Academy member, as the child of former Academy members and as a woman, I expected more from the best that the movie business has to offer. The Oscars are about honoring art and artists. It is not supposed to be a cheesy vaudeville show...

What we will be talking about is Seth's lack of class and a 14-year-old boy's derogatory word for one of the most beautiful, motherly and literally nurturing parts of the female form.

Russell Brand's Beautifully-Written Blog Post About What It's Like To Do Heroin

$

Russell Brand

Actor-comedian-former drug addict-deep-thinker Russell Brand posted a poetic blog Tuesday morning titled "Give It Up" about his current desire to do heroin — and why he doesn't.

It started with this:

The last time I thought about taking heroin was yesterday. I had received “an inconvenient truth” from a beautiful woman. It wasn’t about climate change – I’m not that ecologically switched on, she told me she was pregnant and it wasn’t mine.

[Sidebar: Does this mean his ex-wife Katy Perry is pregnant with boyfriend John Mayer's baby?]

After hearing the news, Brand got in his car and turned on Morrissey as he wound his way through the Hollywood Hills. But a car ride wasn't easing his pain the way heroin used to, he says.

I cannot accurately convey to you the efficiency of heroin in neutralizing pain. It transforms a tight, white fist into a gentle, brown wave. From my first inhalation fifteen years ago it fumigated my private hell and lay me down in it’s hazy pastures and a bathroom floor in Hackney embraced me like a womb.

This shadow is darkly cast on the retina of my soul and whenever I am dislodged from comfort my focus falls there.

Brand, now sober, then explains that he recently saw video footage of himself as a young drug addict living in London.

I sit wasted and slumped with an unacceptable haircut against a wall in another Hackney flat (Hackney is starting to seem like part of the problem) inhaling fizzy, black snakes of smack off a scrap of crumpled foil.

russell brand

But his present-day reaction wasn't what he thought it would be.

... What is surprising is that my reaction is not one of gratitude for the positive changes I’ve experienced but envy at witnessing an earlier version of myself unencumbered by the burden of abstinence.

It is thanks to support groups that Brand says he is able to remain sober.

Without these fellowships I would take drugs. Because, even now, the condition persists. Drugs and alcohol are not my problem, reality is my problem, drugs and alcohol are my solution.

... I look to drugs and booze to fill up a hole in me, unchecked the call of the wild is too strong.

Brand, still feeling lonely and sad after the news of a lost love now moving on, waxes poetic about what it would be like  and how easy it would be  to go back to using to ease his pain.

I think of places I could score. Off Santa Monica there’s a homeless man who I know uses gear. I could find him, buy him a bag if he takes me to score.

I’d leave him on the corner, a couple of rocks, a couple of $20 bags pressed into my sweaty palm. I get home, I pull out the foil, neatly torn. I break the bottom off a Martel miniature. I have cigarettes, using makes me need fags. I make a pipe for the rocks with the bottle. I lay a strip of foil on the counter to chase the brown. I pause to reflect and regret that I don’t know how to fix, only smoke, feeling inferior even in the manner of my using. I see the foil scorch. I hear the crackle from which crack gets it’s name. I feel the plastic fog hit the back of my yawning throat. Eyes up. Back relaxing, the bottle drops and the greedy bliss eats my pain. There is no girl, there is no tomorrow, there is nothing but the bilious kiss of the greedy bliss.

But once again, it's a "mate" in London, a former user, who picks up Brand's phone call and keeps him on his path of sobriety.

It is ten years since I used drugs or drank alcohol and my life has immeasurably improved. I have a job, a house, a cat, good friendships and generally a bright outlook.

Caine Monroy Caine's Arcade

Last year, a YouTube video of Caine Monroy — a 9-year-old who created his own arcade out of cardboard boxes and trash in his dad's L.A. auto shop — went viral.

The adorable pint-sized entrepreneur's story has over 3.6 million hits on YouTube, over 132K likes on Facebook and has even been tweeted about by Justin Timberlake.

And now, William Morris Endeavor Agency has signed the now-10-year-old, the talent agency confirmed to People magazine.

Carly Rae Jepsen

"Call Me Maybe" singer Carly Rae Jepsen has pulled out of a performance she had scheduled at this July's Boy Scouts of America Jamboree, citing the organization's ban on gay members.

The 27-year-old Canadian singer tweeted Tuesday:

"As an artist who believes in equality for all people, I will not be participating in the Boy Scouts of America Jamboree this summer. I always have and will continue to support the LGBT community on a global level and stay informed on the ever changing landscape in the ongoing battle for gay rights in this country and across the globe."

Just yesterday, the band Train also opted out of the jamboree for the same reason.

The band released the below statement explaining their stance:

Train the band

"When we booked this show for the Boy Scouts of America we were not aware of any policy barring openly gay people from participation within the organization. Train strongly opposes any kind of policy that questions the equality of any American citizen. We have always seen the BSA as a great and noble organization. We look forward to participating in the Jamboree this summer, as long as they make the right decision before then."

Both musical acts pulled out of the concerts after a petition begun by a former Boy Scout leader fired for being gay sought support in condemning the organization's discriminatory policies  went viral on Change.org.

The petition currently has over 3,000 signatures.

Jon Stewart hosting the 78th Academy Awards.

Jon Stewart is taking a break from "The Daily Show" this summer in order to make his feature film directorial debut with "Rosewater"  the story of BBC journalist Maziar Bahari's 2009 arrest by the Iranian government while covering an election protest.

Stewart wrote the screenplay for the film based on Bahari's New York Times best-selling memoir "Then They Came for Me: A Family’s Story of Love, Captivity and Survival" which discusses his 118-day interrogation and torture.

"One of the reasons we are in this business is to challenge ourselves,” Stewart explained to the NY Times. “And I really connected to Maziar’s story. It’s a personal story but one with universal appeal about what it means to be free.”

“One of the things that appealed to me about the story is that it does have lighter moments,” Stewart continued. “One of the things that kept Maziar alive was his ability to keep his sense of humor – to remember about joy and laughter – and see the absurdity of his situation.”

While Stewart is away shooting the film overseas this summer, "Daily Show" correspondent John Oliver will take over hosting duties for 12 weeks — eight of which the show will produce new episodes.

The Comedy Central series tapes and airs original episodes Monday through Thursday.

Not only is this Stewart's first time directing a feature film, it's also his first extended period of time away from the show in his 14 years as host.

Controversial Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez had a fan  and friend  in American actor Sean Penn.

Penn, known for his left-wing political and social activism, first met Chavez in 2007 in Venezuela and in August 2012, joined Chavez at an election rally.

When Chavez was sick in December, Penn made a surprise appearance in Bolivia to attend a candlelight vigil for the health of the President.

At the time, the actor said, "He’s one of the most important forces we’ve had on this planet, and I’ll wish him nothing but that great strength he has shown over and over again. I do it in love, and I do it in gratitude."

Following Chavez's death Tuesday, Penn released a statement to The Hollywood Reporter:

"Today the people of the United States lost a friend it never knew it had. And poor people around the world lost a champion. I lost a friend I was blessed to have. My thoughts are with the family of President Chavez and the people of Venezuela. Venezuela and its revolution will endure under the proven leadership of Vice President Maduro."

Filmmaker Oliver Stone, who championed Chavez in his 2009 film "South of the Border" was also a fan of the controversial political leader.

''I mourn a great hero to the majority of his people and those who struggle throughout the world for a place," says Stone in a statement to Business Insider. "Hated by the entrenched classes, Hugo Chavez will live forever in history."

"My friend, rest finally in a peace long earned," he adds.

Shia LaBeouf Leaks Private Emails In Epic Twitter War Against Alec Baldwin

Shia LaBeouf a-okay symbol

It all started in late February when "Transformers" actor Shia LaBeouf abruptly dropped out of the Broadway play "Orphans" due to what producers called "creative differences" with co-star Alec Baldwin.

After walking away from the play, LaBeouf posted private email exchanges between himself and his co-stars and director, Dan Sullivan, to Twitter.

LaBeouf wrote a rambling note to Sullivan titled “Apology,” to which the director emailed back:

"I’m too old for disagreeable situations. you’re one hell of a great actor. Alec is who he is. you are who you are. you two are incompatible ... This one will haunt me. you tried to warn me. you said you were a different breed. I didn’t get it.

But when Baldwin recently compared the "Transformers" star to a “celebrity chef” who doesn’t take his craft seriously to Vulture, LaBeouf fought back Wednesday morning by posting more private email exchanges to his Twitter account.

The first one is titled "celebrity":

[Director Dan Sullivan writes to LaBeouf: "Don't be too surprised if Alec doesn't look up from his script much for the first few days. I suspect he's not nearly as prepared as you are. Not unusual at all when actors have a good long rehearsal time like we have. I just don't want it to throw you. I did a reading of another play once with Alec and about 10 minutes in I thought, 'Oh, I guess he's just going to read it.'"]

The second post was simply captioned "chef" in response to Baldwin's remarks:

[An email chain between Baldwin and LaBeouf, which is then forwarded to Sullivan, goes like this: First, Baldwin tells LaBeouf that he's "so fucking tired." To which, LaBeouf responds: "I'm a hustler. I don't get tired. I'm 26, chief." Baldwin doesn't just accept that: "Listen, boy. I'm not your fuckin' chief. You got that? Ha. Hahahahaha. Let's go." It's clear that then LaBeouf forwarded this exchange to Sulyboy, the director. Sullivan's response on February 12: "I thought it was a very good first. Even if Alec never looked up."

Baldwin has yet to respond to the Twitter attack. Stay tuned!
