Mark Wahlberg Says He Could Have Stopped 9/11

Mark-Wahlberg

Marky Mark sent out some bad vibrations in February's issue of "Men's Journal" when he claimed he could have single-handedly stopped the terrorists of American Airlines flight 11, while also managing to safely land the plane.

Wahlberg was originally scheduled to be on flight 11, which struck the North Tower, but instead visited the Toronto Film Festival a week prior.

“If I was on that plane with my kids, it wouldn’t have went down like it did,” said Wahlberg. "There would have been a lot of blood in that first-class cabin and then me saying, ‘OK, we’re going to land somewhere safely, don’t worry.'”

Wahlberg may have been "The Fighter" and even the "Shooter," but we doubt he could have taken down any hijackers.

The "Contraband" actor's claim sent Twitter abuzz and upset 9/11 widows

Walhberg since apologized for his statement.

“To suggest I would have done anything differently than the passengers on that plane was irresponsible. I deeply apologize to the families of the victims that my answer came off as insensitive, it was certainly not my intention,” he said.

steven tyler sings the national anthem

Steven Tyler tried to win over "Idol" viewers by singing the National Anthem. Guess how that went?

This week brought us playoff upsets, bad singing and plenty of baby news and breakups.

WINNER: Kristin Cavallari

After an off-again, on-again relationship, Kristin Cavallari and Bears quarterback Jay Cutler got back together over the holidays and announced they're expecting their first child.

LOSER: Steven Tyler

The Aerosmith star received a lot of flack for his rendition of the national anthem ahead of the Patriots Ravens game. Was his appearance a ploy to amp "American Idol" ratings later in the evening?

WINNER: Michel Hazanavicius

"The Artist" won Best Picture Award at the Producers Guild. Hazanavicius' film previously won Best Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical at the 69th Golden Globes.

The Most Dangerous Celebrities To Search For Online

$

megan foxMegan Fox and Selena Gomez are among the most searched celebrities on the web, and they're also the most likely to put you at risk for a virus.

This morning, McAfee released its list of the most dangerous cyber celebrities to search online.

The list takes a look at everyone from popular actors and athletes to musicians and comedians, most targeted by cybercriminals to lure audiences to sites filled with malware to steal both passwords and personal information.

As expected, the list includes mostly women; however, missing from the list are top newsmakers Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, and Kristen Stewart.

Jimmy Kimmel knocks Brad Pitt off this year's list, becoming the sole male to make the top 20 in 2012.

We were surprised by many of the celebs who made the list.

10. Sofia Vergara

Five of the top ten most dangerous people to search online are Latina, according to McAfee

Vergara appeared in this summer's "Three Stooges" film and plays leading lady Gloria Delgado-Prichett on Emmy-winning "Modern Family."

9. Salma Hayek

The Mexican native starred in this summer's box-office fizzle "Savages" and recently made headlines for her German Vogue interview when she claimed she "hardly had any memories of what it is to be Mexican."

8. Cameron Diaz

We were surprised by the inclusion of the "What to Expect When You're Expecting" actress.

However, her role in "Bad Teacher" last summer brought her back into the limelight.

Christopher Nolan Sues His Agents Over 'Dark Knight' Profits

christopher nolan the dark knight rises

Batman can't help Christopher Nolan out of a legal dispute, so he's asking the court to intervene.

"Dark Knight Rises" director Nolan and his producing partner and wife, Emma Thomas, filed a lawsuit in L.A. court to help settle a money dispute over the director's films, according to TMZ.

He's not looking for any money, though.

Rather, Nolan wants to clear the air between his current and former agencies, WME and CAA, respectively.

The director's former agency CAA claims its still owed millions of dollars in commission for projects while it represented him from October 2005 through February 2012.

However, WME claims they should receive a portion of the funds.

Earlier this year, when an agent from CAA was fired, Nolan switched agencies with him to WME. As a result, WME now wants the commissions for all the films produced while the agent was with CAA.

Nolan simply wants to know who's owed what, because he's more than willing to pay.

From the court documents:

"Plaintiffs claim no interest in the Commissions. They are merely stakeholders of these Commissions and are ready and willing to deliver the Commissions to the party who is legally entitled to receive them."

Both 2008's "The Dark Knight" and this summer's "The Dark Knight Rises" have amassed more than $1 billion at the box office worldwide.

Since 2002, Nolan's films–"Insomnia," "The Prestige," "Inception, and the "Batman" franchise–have amassed more than $3.3 billion worldwide.

Songwriter Sues Warner Music Claiming Band 'Muse' Stole The Idea For Their Epic 3-Part Symphony

matt bellamy muse

Muse frontrunner Matt Bellamy may find himself in a "Supermassive Black Hole."

Songwriter Charles Bollfrass claims the British band stole his idea for its epic three-part symphony "Exogenesis" featured on it's latest album, "The Resistance."

Bollfrass is suing Warner Music who released the album in 2009 for $3.5 million claiming in federal court he previously wrote a "cinematic science-fiction rock opera" by the same name.

Muse received high praise for its beautifully intricate classical-rock ballad that closed out the record, with the album debuting at number 3 on the Billboard charts upon release

Bellamy previously told NME magazine he worked on the album's "hardest song" for years

Bollfrass claims he contacted Muse along with two other bands back in 2005 to compose the score for his opera; however, he says the band showed no interest.

According to Bollfrass, his opera follows the story of the end of the world, and hope to start life anew on another planet.

Drummer Dominic Howard described the symphony as the following to NME in July 2009:

"It's a real journey that song as well … you can’t really hear what Matt’s singing in the first part much, but the whole song is about leaving the destructive planet we’ve created, leaving it behind to go populate somewhere else in the universe."

If that isn't enough, Bollfrass also claims the group stole the image for their 2009 album cover from a storyboard of his opera.

Bollfrass is seeking damages for copyright infringement, unfair trade practices, and unfair competition.

The three-part classical rock symphony clocks in at just over 12 minutes.

You can listen to it in its entirety below:

Anderson CooperFor the first time since publicly coming out of the closet via an eloquent email to The Daily Beast in July, Anderson Cooper spoke out about it for the first time on Monday during the season premiere of "Anderson Live."

The topic was brought up by his guest co-host Kristin Chenoweth, who joked “I think we’ve both had big summers ... I just wonder if you’d like to say, I don’t know, maybe, you went out a lot? You came out, and talked…?”

Cooper blushed throughout the conversation, saying that his family, friends, and coworkers always knew about his sexuality, but that he didn't see it as professional for a reporter to talk about it on TV.

“Everybody in my life has always known… you know, I came out in high school, I told my friends, I told my family, I’ve always been out to my coworkers and stuff," Anderson revealed to his audience, adding he decided to finally come out because "I didn’t want to send a message that there was anything I was ashamed about or unhappy about or not comfortable with.”

On Lil Wayne's newest mix tape "Dedication 4," Nicki Minaj sang her supposed support of Republican Mitt Romney, rapping:

"I’m a Republican voting for Mitt Romney / You lazy b—-es is f—ing up the economy.”

But turns out that was just her alter-ego doing the talking—and the current president called it from a mile away.

After the lyrics were released to the public, Obama told an Orlando radio station “I’m not sure that’s actually what happened… She likes to play different characters. So I don’t know what’s going on there."

The liberal rap queen confirmed Obama's suspicions on Twitter:

Jessica Simpson's First Ad In $4M Weight Watchers Deal Hides Her Body

Jessica Simpson hit an all-time high of 170 pounds while pregnant with her daughter Maxwell, and now Weight Watchers is paying the 32-year-old a reported $4 million to shed the weight.

In the below ad filmed in July—just three months after the birth of her daughter—Simpson says, "There is a lot of pressure to lose weight but I'm not a supermodel. I'm just Jessica trying to eat real food in the real world and I really just wanna be healthy for my daughter."

Watch the ad in its entirety below:

But since this commercial's shoot in July consisting solely of close up shots of Simpson's face, she says she has shed over 40 pounds.

The singer unveiled her slimmer figure Monday on the series premiere of Katie Couric's new daytime talk show "Katie," saying of her new diet, "You have to track every bit, and you can't get away with the bites because they add up."

And apparently people were interested in what Simpson had to say, as "Katie" premiered to the highest ratings in a decade (2.8 household rating and an eight share in the top 56 markets) for a new daytime talk show—the best ratings since the Oprah-backed "Dr.Phil" premiered in 2002.

Watch part of Simpson's interview with Couric below:

After Valerie Bertinelli received a reported $3 million for losing 50 pounds while the spokeswoman for Jenny Craig—about $60,000 for each pound she lost, hopefully Jessica Simspon can follow in Jennifer Hudson's lighter footsteps and hold up her end of the $4 million Weight Watchers deal.

James Franco Sued By NYU Professor Who Gave Him A 'D'

James Franco

Life isn’t always glitz and glam for Hollywood’s elite.

One of James Franco's former NYU professors is suing the actor for charges of defamation, libel, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Last December, the “127 Hours” actor received a “D” grade from professor José Angel Santana after missing 12 out of 14 of Santana’s “Directing the Actor” classes.

Soon after Santana lost his job, an action he claimed was the result of giving Franco the near-failing grade.

Now, the professor claims Franco defamed him on multiple outlets including ABC News, Huffington Post, and YouTube.

Franco told the Huffington Post:

“I’ve been in eight years of acting class. I didn’t feel like I needed to waste my time with a bad teacher and that I should go and work with Danny Boyle. I felt like that was the right decision.”

In his YouTube video Franco claims Santana "wasn't fired. He was asked not to come back after three years because they didn't think he was a good teacher. He is not going to be hired at another institution."

According to the suit, Santana doesn’t have any negative teaching or student evaluations, as well as negative performance records. The former professor claims the public negative comments have caused him "emotional distress, mental anguish, loss of self-esteem, public disgrace, and loss of standing in the performing arts community."

He's demanding a trial by jury, hoping to receive damages deemed appropriate by the court, in addition to fees associated with the suit.

Check out Franco's YouTube video about his professor:

White people are most likely to hold onto their old flip phones instead of trading in for a shiny new Android or iPhone.

This morning, Nielsen released its State of the Media: Cross-Platform Report for Q1 2012.

While the bulk of the 12-page report lent itself to a rise in video consumption on gaming consoles and smartphones (nearly 36 million mobile phone owners in the U.S. are watching video on their phones), one specific gem included a general breakdown of smartphone users.

According to Nielsen's data, white people own the same amount of feature phones (or flip phones) as African Americans do smartphones.

Glenn Beck Returns To TV Tonight As Part Of New Deal

Glenn Beck

After nearly a year off the airwaves, controversial Glenn Beck is returning to television, but not where you'd expect.

The former Fox host will bring his Internet channel TheBlaze TV, originally GBTV to air in a deal with Dish Network, according to The New York Times

Last September, the conservative Beck tried his luck on the subscription-based Internet venture to reach a larger audience.

With more than 300,000 current paying customers shelling out $99.95 a year (or $9.95 a month), Beck plans to take that success back to television in attempt to gage all audiences.

The Blaze president and COO, Christopher Balfe, told AdAge television remains viewers main source for receiving content.

"While there is a huge proliferation of 'Smart' devices in homes, including Roku, Boxee, AppleTV, game consoles, and Smart TVs themselves, consumers would often rather just 'watch TV,'" said Balfe.

The Blaze will be available to customers with "America's Top 250" package, according to a blog post by Balfe

The channel launches tonight at 5 p.m. EST on channel 212, and will be free to all DISH customers through Sept. 26.

The online version of The Blaze will remain intact for current subscribers.

Beck will make an announcement later today about his new partnership with DISH.

MasterChef Blind Contestant

Christine Ha, a grad student from Houston, lost her sight gradually over the past ten years due to a rare autoimmune disease—but that hasn't stopped this cook from defeating every single other contestant on Monday night's finale of the third season of "MasterChef."

Ha is the only blind contestant to ever compete in, and later win, the show.

Ha took home a $250,000 cash prize and cook book deal.

For the final challenge, the contestants prepared three courses. Ha was praised for the balanced meal she prepared which included braised pork, maitake mushrooms, Thai papaya salad, and coconut lime sorbet. (Marks' undercooked lobster may have cost him the title.)

"My first reaction when I won was just utter shock," Ha told TV Guide. "I just could not believe it. I was shocked for probably 48 hours. I didn't realize how much I wanted it and how much it was attainable."

While she is a master chef now, Ha admits she used to be an awful cook.

"I didn't even know how to steam rice in a rice cooker." She added, "I was a disgrace to many Vietnamese mothers I'm sure ... I only knew how to make scrambled eggs and toast and instant ramen."

Ha finally taught herself how to cook once she got an apartment with a kitchen, and now her husband helps her while she cooks.

'I Catered Tom Cruise's Wedding And Didn't Get Paid'

$

Sinar ParmanSinar Parman joined the Church of Scientology in 1978 and worked as a personal chef to founder L. Ron Hubbard, his successor David Miscavige, and — on the days he visited Scientology's HQ — Tom Cruise.

Parman says he became so close to Miscavige and Cruise that he was selected to cater Cruise's wedding reception. Parman claims he wasn't paid a fee for the meal and was stiffed on his expenses, he tells Business Insider.

The incident was "one of the last straws" for Parman, who says he then quit the church and fled its California compound with his wife.

His escape from the religion didn't last long — he claims the church's security personnel chased him down and persuaded him to re-enter life inside the secretive church. He remained inside Scientology for 20 more years before becoming disillusioned enough to leave permanently.

Here's Parman's story, told in his own words, which we've edited lightly for brevity and clarity.

Note: We left two messages requesting comment from the Church of Scientology, but have yet to hear back.

I was born in Indonesia but I left there when I was 7 and when to school in the U.S. I went to high school in Los Angeles and then UCLA. I did a chef apprenticeship in Los Angeles because I didn't know what I wanted to do, but everybody needs to eat!

At the same time I got into Scientology. I paid for a lot of courses at the mission and a lot of auditing. I had maybe paid for 400 hours of auditing [a type of counseling]. It was only $50 an hour. I felt like I had a lot of gains. So I changed my career; I wanted to be on staff in Scientology place.

L. Ron HubbardI was on staff at the Los Angeles Org starting in 1977. I was approached by some recruiters and was asked if I wanted to cook for L. Ron Hubbard at La Quinta.

There were security procedures, certainly. You're not supposed to talk to reporters. If there are any people with subpoenas, you're taught how to handle it. There were also rattlesnakes at that time, so we were told how to kill rattlesnakes. In 1977 there was an FBI raid in Los Angeles, so this was 1978. It was basically a secret base. We all had to use fake names.

I was shown around and I met Hubbard outside the kitchen of his house, which was called Rifle. He was bigger than his pictures. He had big mutton chop sideburns and a cowboy hat and dark sunglasses you could see it was him but he was bigger than life. I was in awe. I was a little bit shy. He said hello. I was like wow, I was starstruck. But he was fine. After that I started cooking for him. At that time he was on a fish diet. It was rough. In Palm Springs, Indio, there was nothing around. There was no fresh fish it was all frozen.

NEXT: Hubbard dies, and Parman gets a new boss >

In 1986, Hubbard died and Miscavige took over the church.

Sinar ParmanDavid Miscavige took over in '87. In 1988 Miscavige persuaded me to become executive chef for the Gold Base, [near Gilman Hot Springs, Calif.] From '88 to about 1990 I was basically the executive chef. We renovated the main cooking and dining facilities at Gold Base. Three of us feeding 500 people. Miscavige didn't have a personal chef at the time. I was cooking for everyone.

In 1990 when Tom Cruise came by I was assigned as his personal chef. He was doing training, doing courses, he was also getting some auditing. He came with his assistant, Andrea Morris. He had a nice luxury apartment renovated for him. Miscavige set up a whole bunch of facilities for Tom Cruise. He even made a couple of tennis courts. There was a rifle range operated just for Tom Cruise.

David MiscavigeTom Cruise would come in and his cars would be taken care of. Washed, maintained, it was just provided to him, services beyond services. Miscavige got him hooked up with the Feshbach brothers for his investments. They were famous on Wall Street for investing in companies that were [in distress].

Tom was a very nice guy. He was like, a lot of energy, he wasn't pretentious, he was really very cool. He liked a lot of pasta and high energy, complex carb meals. Not much on the red meat, but some of the larger meats, that kind of stuff. It was a very Hollywood diet. He had to keep fit. His body was everything because of his profession. Sometimes he'd like Chinese food, sometimes he'd like lo mein.

John Travolta was there for a while and I cooked for him and also Kirstie Alley. They were cool people. Tom was Mr. Mellow but he liked to eat, let's put it that way. His hamburger was chopped filet mignon. He liked to have clear ice in his drinks, not that they were alcoholic. Little things like that.

Kirstie Alley, she stayed there maybe a week. I had to make noodles from scratch, really thick just like her grandma made it. Chicken noodle soup, so many times. She loved it.

I would do a menu based on their likes and dislikes.

I couldn't tell what Nicole Kidman wanted. I was still trying to figure out that until the end. Some personalities you can't tell what they really like. Some days she liked it and some days she didn't. It wasn't definite.

She was very much more reserved than Tom, not as outgoing. There was one dinner, one meal with Cruise and John Travolta and Kirstie Alley and they were like a raucous bunch and they would try to out-entertain each other. Three A-listers at the time and you get a really loud place, but she wasn't one of those. She was more reserved. I mean she was still laughing.

There was no booze because they had to go into sessions.

Tom stayed the longest time. He stayed there for months. He took off doing films, Days of Thunder, where he met Nicole. He took off for maybe a month and a half to film that in NASCAR country. Then he came and continued doing his thing there.

He was here six to eight months. He was doing the auditor levels from 0 to 4, the lower area before you do any clear and OT levels. He started also some basics courses, “Keys of Life” and “Life Orientation” courses.

A trip to Telluride on Cruise's private jet

[In 1990], David Miscavige told me, “Hey you're going to cater for Tom’s wedding in Colorado." After it was over it was, “Oh Dave decided you were not going to be paid by Tom.” It really ticked me off because you know what, my wife and I earned 50 bucks a week. [Staff members of the church work as volunteers for bed and board and a small amount of cash per week.] We had to go to Telluride in winter. It was a matter of buying new clothes for PR purposes, We went there in his private jet he paid for a rental car, hotel room, ski lift tickets, that kind of stuff. We had to go eat in Telluride for however long and it was expensive and we had to cover it personally on our credit cards.

I figured when we get back, we get paid, and I’d pay off my credit cards. It never happened and that's why I left. I left in 1991 with my wife. That was one of the last straws.

I drove off in the night with my wife. I stopped at my parents house in LA. She gave me a bunch of cash to pay off my credit cards. We went up north thru Monterey, stayed in Lake Tahoe and stayed in Carson City where my wife’s distant cousin had a business and I worked for him in a furniture store.

But the church had, like, a couple of private investigators on us. I later found out they basically had my ID stolen. All the mail is opened, my personal mail, they know my bank, all the details of my credit cards, my date of birth, social security number, and my mother’s maiden name.

Suddenly five people showed up on our doorstep, in a house in Carson City. It was early in the morning, 7 or 8 a.m. Several guys come up and they're from Gilman, from Gold Base.

Parman and his wife say they were interrogated by the men at a motel for a week. They were persuaded to rejoin the church.

It lasted for maybe about a week. They went through all our luggage and belongings. I had personal notes from L. Ron Hubbard, Tom Cruise and Kirstie Alley, and photos, and they took all that and that was never returned to me.

Parman stayed in the church through 2001. When asked why, he says:

I still haven't grasped it. I thought I would achieve my spiritual ends.

Paris Hilton

Faded reality star Paris Hilton was recorded calling gay men "disgusting" and saying that "most have AIDS."

Hilton made the remarks to a friend during a Sept. 7 cab ride, and, unbeknownst to her, the remarks were recorded by her driver. Hilton and her friend were discussing the gay hook-up site Grindr.

"On the audio Paris says at one point: "Gay guys are the horniest people in the world. They're disgusting. Dude, most of them probably have AIDS," Radar reported Hilton as saying.

Radar Online has the full, graphic audio here.

Hilton's camp has responded and acknowledged that the video was Hilton.

But, she had good intentions, they claim:

"Paris Hilton’s comments were to express that it is dangerous for anyone to have unprotected sex that could lead to a life threatening disease. The conversation became heated, after a close gay friend told her in a cab ride, a story about a gay man who has AIDS and is knowingly having unprotected sex. He also discussed a website that encourages random sex by gay men with strangers. As she was being shown the website her comments were in reference to those people promoting themselves on the site. The cab driver who recorded this, only provided a portion of the conversation. It was not her intent to make any derogatory comments about all gays. Paris Hilton is a huge supporter of the gay community and would never purposefully make any negative statements about anyone’s sexual orientation.”

You Can Thank Oprah For The New Fantasyland In Disney World

When Beauty and the Beast's French-themed restaurant opens in Walt Disney World come November, it may want to ask Oprah to be its first guest.

Last week, Walt Disney Company CFO Jay Rasulo revealed the near-completed Enchanted Forest area may have never come to fruition without an indirect nudge from the ABC veteran.

During a question-and-answer session at Bank of America Merrill Lynch Media, Communications and Entertainment Conference Rasulo said the idea for Fantasyland upgrades were triggered by a nugget in "O Magazine" that suggested overcrowding in the park's current area:

"I am not a regular reader of O Magazine, but I have seen it from time to time because, remember, mothers are our customer in parks and resorts. They make a lot of the vacation decisions. And O Magazine said I don't know 10 years ago now maybe eight years ago that 66% of their readers thought Walt Disney World was the toughest place to be in the middle of the summer because of overcrowding. And I kinda ripped the page out and I called the folks that were running our business at that time and said I really want to look into this."

After research, they found this to be exactly true.

"It turned out that when we studied day after day, something they knew, but informed me
of in a very statistical way that there are many days that Fantasyland was an uncomfortable place to be."

In response, the decision was made to expand and add more content to the Magic Kingdom for the first time since 1972.

According to Rasulo, the Magic Kingdom is the most visited park in the world, and the park's Fantasyland is the most visited of any in the location.

Though the "Beauty and the Beast"-themed restaurant will open in November, the rest of the Enchanted Forest complete with a "Little Mermaid" area is slated to open December 6.
