The INSIDER Summary:

  • Mariah Carey has been accused of Photoshopping her body.
  • On August 22, Carey shared a photo of herself appearing on the cover of PAPER Magazine.
  • Many social media users pointed out that her waist looks edited in the photo.
  • Carey hasn't addressed the accusations, yet she recently admitted to having "low self-esteem" in an interview with Page Six.
  • "I just feel like I am a regular human being and I deserve the same respect as anybody else," she told the publication.

Mariah Carey has been accused of Photoshopping her body after appearing on the latest cover of PAPER Magazine.

On August 22, Carey posted an Instagram photo of the cover, which we first read about on the Daily Mail. It shows her holding her hands above her head and posing in sheer black gloves, fishnet tights, and a jeweled body chain.

Fans and critics alike commented on the photo, with many people arguing that it had been edited.

"I love Mariah but this pic was undeniably photoshopped [sic]," one user wrote. Another Instagrammer pointed to Carey's mid-section: "So much Photoshop on that waist," they commented. A separate user even body-shamed the singer: "Hahaha whats the problem in being fat???? [sic] Stop editing your photos... It's ridiculous. Accept your body or go to the gym."

Others responded in Carey's defense, saying that she looked great.

"The decision I need to make is how many copies am I buying. I loooovvve this picture! [sic] You look so good," one commenter wrote. Another person focused on the fact that the cover was for a photo shoot: "Stop calling her out for photoshop which was not done by her and is widely used in the industry [sic]," they wrote.

While Photoshop was likely used by PAPER Magazine to make changes to Carey's body, she hadn't addressed the accusations at the time of this post. The Daily Mail later reported on August 22 that Carey looked happy as she was seen heading to dinner with her boyfriend.

On the same day, Carey followed up her initial Instagram post with two additional images from her photo shoot and drew even more criticism.

A post shared by Mariah Carey (@mariahcarey) on Aug 21, 2017 at 9:11am PDT on

Both pictures were captioned with the hashtag #VivaLasPaper, which some assume helped commemorate her first-ever Las Vegas residency that ended on July 18.

Carey's "#1 to Infinity" show was held at Caesars Palace for a little over two years, according to Metro.

In light of the controversy, People recently reported that she admitted to struggling with "low self-esteem" in an interview with Page Six. "I just feel like I am a regular human being and I deserve the same respect as anybody else," Carey told the publication. "I have always had low self-esteem, and people do not recognize that."

It's not the first time that Carey has been accused of editing her body. In 2016, social media users insisted that she had Photoshopped multiple images to appear thinner and curvier, according to the Daily Mail.

The singer has also repeatedly been criticized for her body and outfits. Earlier this August, Carey was body-shamed for posting a photo of herself on a date. And before that, In Touch Weekly wrote that she was scrutinized over her weight after wearing tight-fitting outfits in July, while The Daily Dot wrote that she was slut-shamed for performing in a flesh-colored bodysuit in December 2016.

Regardless of a person's celebrity status, body-shaming is never acceptable.

Kim Kardashian channels Pamela Anderson in her new photoshoot

The INSIDER Summary:

  • Kim Kardashian channeled Pamela Anderson's look from the MTV Video Music Awards in 1999.
  • She donned a blonde wig and pink cowboy hat with leopard trim for the photo.
  • The photoshoot is part of the 11th issue of "CR Fashion Book."

Kim Kardashian, 36, is featured in the 11th issue of "CR Fashion Book," which pays homage to some of the most iconic red carpet looks of the year 1999. One of those, of course, is the epic pink, fur and animal print hat, paired with a corset top, that Pamela Anderson wore to the MTV Video Music Awards that year, and Kim had the honor of recreating the look for the mag. For her shoot, the reality star donned a blonde wig and pink cowboy hat with cheetah-print trim. Her outfit wasn’t quite as outrageous as Pam’s — the model rocked sequined pants in ’99, while Kim wore much more simple sweats this time — but the similarities are definitely striking!

In another shot for the buzzed-about issue, the 36-year-old also imitated Lil Kim’siconic look from that same awards show. The rapper’s purple, one-sleeved jumpsuit, which featured her entire right boob on full display, save for a pastie over the nipple, is still a look that’s talked about today. Although Kim, who was photographed by Petra Collins, covered up a bit more in her shoot, she was totally on point with the purple-hued hairstyle!

“To me, 1999 was the last moment when fashion felt naive and innocent and free,” "CR Fashion Book" creator, Carine Roitfeld, explained. “1999 is about a spirit of independence and there are very few independent thinkers left today. I think right now a lot of people are looking back to this period of time. Not only to find references or get ideas, but to see who they were — how good they were — and hopefully see who they can be again.” Maybe this will inspire a whole new change in Kim’s style!

  • John Hoaston revealed that he has a piece of wedding cake from Princess Diana and Prince Charles' wedding.
  • The cake has a special place among his Royal memorabilia, which includes a bar of soap Princess Diana brought back from Barbuda.
  • The cake was reportedly created over 14 weeks and remains edible due to alcohol that has preserved it.

Talk about a memorable wedding keepsake! A resident in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, John Hoatson revealed to the Tampa Bay Times that he has a piece of Princess Diana’s actual wedding cake from her 1981 nuptials to Prince Charles.

While Hoatson wasn’t a guest at the wedding, he did see the affair on TV as an eight-year-old boy. “I fell in love with [Diana] right then. She was the prettiest person in the world.”

Now, her cake has a special place among his other Royal memorabilia, which includes a bar of soap Princess Diana brought back from a trip to K Club in Barbuda, a Christmas card photo of her and Prince Charles signed by Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, and a photo of the late Royal dancing with John Travolta. Altogether, the lot has been valued by a museum at $500,000 in total.

princess diana prince charles wedding cakeHoatson says his favorite, however, is the piece of the multi-tiered masterpiece that was reportedly created over 14 weeks by the head baker of the Royal Naval cooking school, David Avery. “It’s fruitcake,” Hoatson shared. “It will never get old. It’s preserved by the air.”

It’s unclear if the cake in question is the same piece that was sold back in 2015 at a Nate D. Sanders auction for $1,375 — a much lower price than the $4,000 it was estimated to fetch. Either way, Hoatson’s cake is likely worth quite a bit more now, as its box has since by signed by two of Lady Di’s own bridesmaids, India Hicks, who wrote, “Dear John, What a wonderful memory this box holds for you and for me,” as well as Clemmie Hambro.

princess diana wedding cakeWhat’s more, as auctioneer Sam Heller said back in 2015, it’s still edible! “Alcohol has preserved the cake, making it still edible, although collectors would rather it remain intact.”

Hoatson himself hasn’t tried it: “It’s 36 years old and it looks really bad,” he said by way of explanation. Fair enough!

Instead, he says he simply holds onto her things “to preserve history and Diana’s story so that we can learn from it.”

Inside the royal family's summer vacation to Scotland

$

british royal familyThe INSIDER Summary:

  • The British royal family is currently on their summer vacation at Balmoral Castle in the Scottish Highlands.
  • While some have called the visit to the castle "freaky," others compared it to an all-American summer vacation.
  • The former British Prime Minister revealed that the royals are just like us, meaning they wash their own dishes.

It’s the end of August, which for most of us means end of summer backyard bashes and back to school shopping. If you’re a member of the British royal family, however, August means one thing: time to head to Balmoral Castle.

The 50,000-acre estate located in the Scottish Highlands, which has been in the royal family since 1852, is a perennial favorite vacation destination for the Windsors and this year appears to be no different. But what goes on at the royal family’s summer home still remains a little bit of a mystery.

As Vogue noted, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair once called visits to the castle “freaky,” while Margaret Thatcher called trips to Balmoral “akin to purgatory.”

However, as The Guardian reported, trips to Balmoral sound utterly benign and more closely comparable to an all-American summer vacation than bizarre royal event, with “a formal dinner and, weather permitting, an informal barbecue. Walking, fishing and deer stalking are all on offer.”

And as Blair even described in his autobiography, the royals are downright just like us: They wash their own dishes after the barbecue.

“You think I’m joking, but I’m not,” Blair wrote. “They put the gloves on and stick their hands in the sink. The Queen asks if you’ve finished, she stacks the plates up and goes off to the sink.”

And this year’s vacation appears to be no more formal than year’s past. As Vogue reported, the royal family even ditched their normal chauffeurs to carpool to church on Sunday, with Prince William and Kate hitching a ride with William’s uncle, Prince Andrew, Prince Charles driving his wife Camilla and Prince Edward driving with his royal passengers, Zara and Mike Tindall.

And sure, this may not seem like a big deal for a normal family retreat, but we aren’t talking about an everyday family here, they are royal after all.

While we are sure the entire Windsor enjoys their time at the castle, “freaky” or otherwise, they may simply be returning year after year to keep their grandmother, the Queen, happy. “It’s the most beautiful place on earth,” Princess Eugenie once said of Balmoral. “I think Granny is the most happy there. I think she really, really loves the Highlands.”

prince harryThe INSIDER Summary:

  • Royal fans will be shocked to know that we've been calling Prince Harry the wrong name his whole life.
  • Turns out, the royal's actual name is Henry Charles Albert David Mountbatten-Windsor.
  • The name Harry was a nickname that his parents gave him when he was born and it's definitely stuck around all these years.

Think you know everything about the royal family? Think again. Embarrassingly, most of us have been calling one royal by the wrong name for his entire life.

Prince Harry, the fifth in line for the British throne (Princess Charlotte’s birth demoted his lineage), has captured our hearts with his flaming red hair and mischievous personality. And his dashing good looks and generous spirit don’t hurt, either.

However, there is one important thing we didn’t know about him: Harry isn’t his real name. It’s actually Henry (or rather, Charles Albert David Mountbatten-Windsor)—a common name for English monarchs.

But don’t fret! You’ll only have to use the name if you’re calling Harry by his proper title, His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales. Otherwise, he probably prefers his nickname, Harry, which his parents gave him when he was born.

Channing Tatum reveals the 'cruel' prank he pulled on Jenna Dewan Tatum before proposing

channing tatum jenna dewanThe INSIDER Summary:

  • Channing Tatum revealed that his 2008 proposal made his wife cry, and not in a good way.
  • Believing she was on to him, Tatum revealed that he tried to throw Jenna off by telling her he didn't believe in marriage.
  • Jenna Dewan Tatum did not take the cruel prank well, breaking down in tears.
  • The pair have now been married for eight years.

Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum have always been total #couplegoals. Whether they’re working together, goofing off, or just hanging out as a family with daughter Everly, they seem perpetually head-over-heels in love with each other. So we were a little surprised to hear that Tatum’s 2008 proposal to his now-wife made her cry — and not in a good way.

During a recent appearance on Nick Grimshaw’s BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show, the actor fully copped to his awful plan. “When I proposed to my wife, I did something pretty cruel because I thought she was on to me,” he admitted. “I basically told her I never wanted to get married to try to throw her off. I told her, ‘I don’t believe in the institution of marriage and I don’t think I ever want to get married.'”

Unfortunately, he was a little too convincing.

“She basically broke down crying,” Tatum told Grimshaw. “I thought, ‘This is not going well at all,’ so I had to propose to her sooner rather than later.”

Of course, as we know, he more than made it up to her when he pulled off a super romantic Maui proposal — complete with their closest friends on hand — not long after. They’ve been married for eight years now, so it’s safe to say she’s forgiven him for that initial prank.

The "Magic Mike" star had the chance to further repent for his proposal sins when, during the interview, he helped a caller surprise his girlfriend with a proposal over the phone. At least someone will have a happy proposal memory involving Tatum!

Barack Obama looked like any other dad while moving his daughter Malia into her new dorm

malia obama barack obamaThe INSIDER Summary:

  • Barack and Michelle Obama moved their daughter Malia into her dorm at Harvard University.
  • The Obamas looked just like any other family moving their upcoming freshman to college.
  • Barack Obama even rocked his now-famous dad jeans.

Malia Obama made her official debut at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts on Tuesday — but rather than a presidential affair, she and her parents Michelle and Barack kept the entire event low-key and downright normal.

Sure, fans and paparazzi were on hand to watch the former first family and president move their eldest child into college. But from the photos, the Obamas easily blended in with the Harvard freshman class (and their parents) as they hauled boxes into Malia’s new dorm.

Barack, clad in his now-famous dad jeans, and Michelle (looking chic as ever in a creme-colored ensemble), covered their eyes with sunglasses to hide what we can only imagine was a flood of parental tears as they shipped their child off to adulthood.

And Malia herself looked incredibly stylish. As Who What Wear broke down, the she rocked an Alexander Wang T-shirt, slip dress, and a pair of Reebok sneakers for her first day of school.

Pictures snapped by classmates showed that Malia has no trouble making friends. She was seen chatting with a group outside her dorm, and later walking to an orientation event with her new pals.

While Malia will undoubtedly need to put in long hours in the Harvard library studying for her classes, she does have a bit of a head start on her classmates. As Essence noted, Malia is starting college with two rather high-profile internships on her resume, including her 2015 internship with Lena Dunham on the HBO series "Girls," and her more recent internship with mega producer Harvey Weinstein.

A post shared by Sk8queen✌✌ (@sk8queen) on

Still, Malia appears to want a regular-old Ivy League college experience, and at Harvard that means sipping coffee at Crema Cafe, grabbing a late-night slice at Otto Pizza (it’s not Chicago deep dish but it will do), and maybe even sneaking into the bar at Charlie’s Kitchen in Harvard Square.

She’ll just have to sneak away from her secret service detail first.

Blue Ivy is already shaping up to be an 'amazing big sister' to Beyoncé's newborn twins

  • Sources confirm that Blue Ivy is shaping up to be an "amazing big sister" to Rumi and Sir.
  • Blue Ivy takes her job as big sister "very seriously."
  • The Carters recently bought an $88 million mansion to be closer to Blue Ivy's school as she prepares to start Kindergarten.

She may be 5 years old, but Blue Ivy is already the sister we wish we had. According to sources for "People," BeyoncĂ© and Jay Z’s daughter is shaping up to be an “amazing big sister” to the couple’s newborn twins, Rumi and Sir—and we can’t wait to see her in action. Per the magazine’s sources, BeyoncĂ© and Jay Z were worried that Blue would feel “left out” when the twins arrived. The “Formation” singer was reportedly so concerned that she “made sure to spend lots of quality time” with Blue before she became a mom of three.

A post shared by Beyoncé (@beyonce) on

However, it seems like the A-list couple had nothing to worry about as sources close to the family told "People" that Blue is doing more than fine as an older sibling.

“There was no need to worry because Blue is great,” the source said. “She takes her job as a big sister very seriously and helps out a lot.” In fact, Blue’s been so good that she’s been able to pick up the slack a bit when her mom needs a rest. “BeyoncĂ© has been very busy with the newborns, but she’s also been able to relax a bit,” the source said. “It’s helped her that Blue has been such an amazing big sister.”

A post shared by Beyoncé (@beyonce) on

However, the couple won’t have Blue’s help for long. According to People, the Carters recently bought an $88 million Bel Air mansion to be closer to Blue’s school as she gears up for kindergarten. And though Bey welcomed two newborns last month, she’s still reportedly experiencing the anxiety all moms feel when seeing their babies get older.

“Blue is excited about starting kindergarten,” the source said. “She misses her friends. It will be fun for her to get back to her own life at school. BeyoncĂ© is excited for her too but keeps saying that she can’t believe Blue is starting kindergarten. She thinks Blue is growing up way too fast!”

An overprotective brother interrogated his little sister's first date — and the hilarious video is going viral

big brother interrogates first date screenshotThe INSIDER Summary:

  • Shaquille Jack had to fulfill his "brotherly duties" when it came to approving his little sister's first date.
  • And he happened to record the whole interrogation and post it online.
  • It's pretty clear that the video was all in fun and Twitter could definitely relate to the situation.
  • Jack confirmed that the date "passed the first test" so all is well.

There's a pretty common trope for girls who have protective older brothers or dads or uncles or andy other men in their lives that those men will need to have ~ a chat ~ with whichever lucky boy (and it's always assumed to be a boy) ends up taking her on her first date. Most of the time, it's just a joke. But for Rochelle Jack, it was very much a reality.

Her brother, Shaquille Jack, tweeted the receipts that he accomplished his "brotherly duties" on Wednesday, in the form of a video in which he is thoroughly grilling a guy who came to take his sister on her first date.

"Where is this guy who's taking you on a date?" he can be heard saying in the video. "Bring him to the door, have to let him know the ground rules."

When the guy comes to the door, he's faced with questions like, "Your age, please? Your intentions with my sister, please?" And also has to answer where he works (he does tiling), what his college plans are (he's taking a gap year). It seems that his answers were satisfactory, since Jack later tweeted that "this guy did very well."

While we're definitely not proponents of brothers or father, or any other men, feeling that they have some kind of right to choose who their sister gets to date, it's pretty clear that this video was all in fun. Twitter thinks so, too, and had some fantastic reactions to Jack's interview.

Even Rochelle Jack retweeted the reactions to her brother's video with a, "Never living this down." But don't worry, she tells Refinery29 that her date wasn't scared off by her brother's interrogation. "I think he took it very well considering how intense my brother was," she tells Refinery29.

They had a fabulous time at dinner and, yes, he did pay the bill.

The reason behind why no one has photographed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle together

$
0
0

prince harry meghan markle togetherThe INSIDER Summary:

  • Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have kept a low profile ever since they started dating a year ago.
  • Harry uses his family's status to allow Markle to go straight to the plane from his car, avoiding any photographers hoping for a picture of the pair.
  • There has yet to be a clear photo of the pair, even after a year of dating.

For an A-list couple, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have always kept a decidedly low profile, probably because dating a royal isn’t easy. Unlike other young royals, they don’t throw flashy parties, they don’t post thirst trap photos on Instagram and they’re never snapped by paparazzi in compromising positions, as said disreputable moments are a thing of Prince Harry’s past. Even after a year of dating seriously, the world has yet to see a clear photo of the pair together.

It was recently revealed that Prince Harry has been quietly picking his girlfriend up from Heathrow Airport. Of course, he doesn’t stand at baggage claim with a poster board proclaiming his adoration, although that could make for quite the Love Actually-inspired moment. Instead, the entire operation is top secret, and has been happening for months. Apparently, Prince Harry used his familial clout to enable Markle to go straight to the plane from his car, avoiding the photographers hoping for the first real picture of the pair, where they’re not on an island together or half hidden in winter clothes.

It makes sense that he would want to tote her home privately, as they spend quite a bit of time apart for such a serious couple. Markle has been busy filming "Suits" and promoting it accordingly, while Prince Harry has been jet setting, as part of his philanthropic endeavors.

Everyone, royal or not, knows finding a ride home after a long flight is downright miserable, no matter the circumstances (though if you’re heading towards a proposal it might be a more comforting trip). Prince Harry has always been open about how his mother, Princess Diana, wanted him to retain a sense of normalcy, even in the spotlight. And what’s more normal than dealing with airport traffic? Hopefully, Markle gives back by picking him up in Toronto, complete with a post-flight snack.

It’s rumored that Markle was offered an even more exclusive arrangement, in the form of a quick stay at the VIP Windsor Suite at Heathrow, where celebrities can hide out before and after flights for £3,000 a pop. But for a couple that seemingly prides themselves on their regular behavior, that’s a bit much.

With this arrangement, it’s less likely than ever the photographers will be able to grab a picture of the two. Though the paparazzi are guaranteed to be out in droves at the airport, the couple will surely be more safely guarded than ever. Plus, it’s entirely cruel to attempt to photograph someone after a long flight. It’s unlikely Markle wears sweatpants and no makeup to greet her beau, but just in case, these personalized pick-ups should continue for full privacy.

  • Miranda Kerr's secret to self-love is crystals.
  • Since retiring from modeling, Kerr has become quite the holistic lifestyle guru.
  • Kerr admits that she keeps a small heart-shaped rose quartz in her bra because it's known to encourage love and have healing powers.
  • Kerr got into crystals after watching her grandfather give them to her grandmother.

Since retiring from modeling, Miranda Kerr has found a second calling as a holistic lifestyle guru. The organic beauty mogul has spoken out about her rather interesting skin care (leech facials, anyone?) and self-care routines before, and in a recent interview with "The Cut," she revealed her secret to self-love.

Surprise! It’s crystals. Kerr, 34, said that not only do all of the beauty products in her line Kora Organics are filtered through rose quartz, she also keeps a small heart-shaped cut in her bra (!) — specifically on the left side so it’s closest to her heart. According to the mom of Flynn with ex Orlando Bloom, “It’s known to encourage love (like self-love) in your life and open the heart chakra. It’s supposed to have healing and protecting powers.”

Kerr, who also keeps a stone in her purse, admits the practice is out of the ordinary. “I know it sounds crazy. But I feel as human beings, that we either come from love or fear,” Kerr, who married Evan Spiegel in May, said. “If we have something like that little reminder, like rose quartz, to always come from love and not from fear, it’s a much more expansive place to come from.”

💗💗

A post shared by Miranda (@mirandakerr) on Jul 10, 2017 at 6:40am PDT on

Kerr first got into crystals watching her grandfather give them to her grandmother. “He ended up bringing her so many that in the back of their house, they had this weeping willow tree and at the base was a collection of crystals that he had gotten for her,” she said. “I used to climb that tree every day when I was a child and thought, they’re magic. It was without even knowing that different crystals had different energies. I was just drawn to them.”

If you’re a crystal skeptic, that’s okay; they’re not for everyone and as Kerr says, “You just have to find what works for you.”

This dad created an app to stop his kids from ignoring his texts

kids textingThe INSIDER Summary:

  • Nick Herbert created an app that disabled his son's cell phone until he replied.
  • ReplyASAP can be used to contact people even if the phone is on silent.
  • The notifications will sound until someone checks the phone and if there is no reply, the app will freeze everything on the phone until a response is sent.
  • The app is currently only available for Android with an iOS version on its way.

Parenting in the digital age is tricky. With worries about everything from cyber bullying to deciding what apps our kids will play with, it can be hard to figure out what’s right for your growing family. One thing many parents can agree on, however, is how hard it can be to get their preteen and teenaged kids to respond to text messages. UK-based dad Nick Herbert decided the best way to get his son to stop ignoring his texts was to use technology to his advantage: He created an app that disabled his son’s cell phone until he replied.

ReplyASAP was “born out of frustration with current messaging apps,” Herbert says on his website. After sending his son, Ben off to secondary school, Herbert got the lad a smartphone, hoping to use it to communicate with his son. What he quickly learned, however, is that like most teens, Ben wasn’t interested in speaking to or replying to his dad’s texts. “What I thought was a solution became a problem,” he says.

Inviting Ben in on the development process, ReplyASAP was born. Similar to popular WhatsApp, users who text back and forth using ReplyASAP can contact each other even if the phone is on silent, something that Herbert knew was stopping his son from checking possibly important calls from family.

The notifications on ReplyASAP will sound until someone actually checks the phone, and once a message is seen and read, if there is no reply, the app will freeze everything going on until a response has been sent — something that helps keep Herbert and his son on topic when using the app. “There is a mutual understanding that using ReplyASAP is only for important things and not because he needs new batteries for his Xbox controller,” Herbert says.

While the app is currently only available for Android, the company plans to roll out an iOS version soon, and assures users that regardless of what phone system they’re on, the app will be compatible (and you don’t need to be operating the same systems to use it with your kids). While this app is the first of its kind to fully be able to take over the screen of a phone, iOS users already have a similar option to help track and manage their kids.

Ignore No More is an app that parents can use to disable a child’s phone remotely if they aren’t replying to messages, forcing kids to respond to their parents’ messages. However, it does not deactivate the phone’s emergency function, allowing kids to continue to make telephone calls while ignoring their parents.

Gal Gadot claps back at body-shamers who complained about her 'Wonder Woman' casting

gal gadotThe INSIDER Summary:

  • In the latest cover story for Rolling Stone, Gal Gadot spoke out against body-shamers who thought she wasn't busty enough to play Diana Prince.
  • The star told critics if they "want to be for real, Amazons only had one boob."
  • Gadot's family history influenced the way she played the character.

Gal Gadot is ready for whatever you want to throw at her. In a recent cover story for "Rolling Stone," the star got real about her inspiration for "Wonder Woman" and expertly took down body-shamers who had a problem with how she filled the titular superhero’s boots — or rather, metal bustier.

A post shared by Rolling Stone (@rollingstone) on

The candid interview, which she teased on Instagram, proves why she was the perfect choice to play Diana Prince. When critics took to the internet to complain that she wasn’t busty enough for the role, she schooled them in what a true Amazonian warrior would have looked like and why her body shouldn’t really matter anyway.

“I told them, ‘Listen, if you want to be for real, then the Amazons, they had only one boob. Exactly one boob. So what are you talking about here? Me having small boobs and small ass? That will make all the difference,'” she recalled to Rolling Stone.

What did make a difference was Gadot’s vision for the character, which she and director Patty Jenkins worked tirelessly to perfect. “I didn’t want to play the cold-hearted warrior. We didn’t want to fall into the clichĂ©s,” Gadot said of how she and Jenkins crafted the story. Of the movie’s feminist message, she adds, “We didn’t want to treat the misogyny in a preaching way. We wanted to surprise the audience.”

Her family history also played a role in how she, well, played the role. Her grandfather — her mother’s father — survived the Holocaust but lost his entire family to the horrors of World War II, which is the setting of Wonder Woman’s origin story in the comics. His outlook on life shaped Gadot’s outlook and feelings about the character, who she says “stands for love and hope and acceptance and fighting evil.”

“He affected me a lot,” she says of her grandfather. “After all the horrors he’d seen, he was like this damaged bird, but he was always hopeful and positive and full of love. If I was raised in a place where these values were not so strong, things would be different. But it was very easy for me to relate to everything that Wonder Woman stands for.”

ryan reynolds blake lively familyThe INSIDER Summary:

  • Ryan Reynolds revealed that fatherhood is the "best" thing that has ever happened to him.
  • The "Deadpool" star is looking forward to having more kids with Blake Lively, even if that means nine daughters.
  • Reynolds and Lively have been very protective when it comes to their children being in the public eye.

Ryan Reynolds is the cutest dad! Revealing in a recent interview that fatherhood’s the ‘best’ thing to ever happen to him, the star also admitted he can’t wait to have more kids with wife Blake Lively — cue the swoons!

Ryan Reynolds, 40, is officially a sucker for fatherhood! Opening up about his family life in an interview with OK! Magazine, the "Deadpool" star not only revealed he LOVES having daughters, but he also revealed he’s looking forward to having more kids with wife Blake Lively, 29. “If I could have nine daughters I would be thrilled,” the actor told the publication. “Really, like I genuinely would be.” How cute is THAT? Click here to see adorable pics of Blake Lively & Ryan Reynolds’ relationship.

While Ryan and Blake are already the proud parents of daughters James, 2, and Ines, 10 months, the star hopes to have more kids in the future, as being a dad is incredibly important to him. “There’s more love, there’s more diapers. There’s more all that stuff, you know? [Fatherhood] is the best thing,” he gushed to the publication. “It’s the best thing that could ever happen to you.” Aw! Fiercely protective of their family, Ryan and Blake didn’t reveal their children to the world until December 2016, nearly two years after the birth of James. The adorable girls made an appearance at their dad’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony where he received his very own star — but clearly James and Ines stole the spotlight.

During his acceptance speech that day, Ryan thanked his wife, saying, “You’ve given me two of the most incredible children I’ve ever hoped to have.” Clearly Ryan is a family man! His schedule just recently got a whole lot busier though as he’s currently filming the follow-up to superhero box office hit "Deadpool." For the duration of filming, Ryan is residing in his hometown of Vancouver, Canada. The film is set to be released in June of next year.

The INSIDER Summary:

  • A high school principal in South Carolina fat-shamed students who choose to wear leggings to school.
  • “I’ve told you this before, I’m going to tell you this now, unless you are a size zero or two and you wear something like that, even though you’re not fat, you look fat,” she said.
  • The principal tried to deny the allegations, but there was a recording of the assembly.
  • Students were hurt by the comments and parents were enraged.
  • “It was very hurtful. I felt like my size made me look disgusting towards someone in the clothes that I wear,” one student said.

For students across the US, a new school year has officially started. This year didn't exactly start off on the right foot for students at a high school in South Carolina, however.

During two assemblies meant to enforce the dress code at Stratford High School, the school's principal fat-shamed students to deter them from wearing leggings as pants, Yahoo Style reported.

"I've told you this before, I'm going to tell you this now, unless you are a size zero or two and you wear something like that, even though you're not fat, you look fat," the school's principal, Heather Taylor, said, according to a recording made of the assembly.

Unsurprisingly, students were upset and parents were enraged. Taylor reportedly tried to deny the allegations that she made the comments.

WCBD-TV, a local news station, obtained the assembly recording and distributed it. You can listen to Taylor's comments below:

Lacy Thompson-Harper, whose daughter attends Stratford High School, shared a private Facebook post about the incident with the blog Scary Mommy.

"Body shaming teenage girls is uncalled for, inappropriate and unprofessional. When I spoke with her, she talked around the issue, and made excuse after excuse, effectively calling all of the students liars," Thompson-Harper wrote.

Thompson-Harper also said that Taylor has agreed to apologize to apologize to the students, but it may not be enough. Many students were hurt by Taylor's remarks.

"It was really hurtful because it made me feel like my size made me look disgusting toward someone in the clothes that I wear." Allison Veazy, a student at the high school, told WCBD-TV. "And to think that someone would think that I would look like a sausage, that was kind of hurtful."

Taylor also reportedly made her contact information available to parents and urged them to contact her with any concerns. However, it looks like the damage has already been done.

Fans defend Ashley Graham from body-shamers over her latest bikini pic

Ashley Graham

The INSIDER Summary:

  • Ashley Graham's latest Instagram bikini pic sparked some hateful comments from her critics.
  • One commenter in particular told her to "lose that belly now."
  • Fans quickly came to her defense, saying she is "slaying in her curvy body."

We can always count Ashley Graham‘s selfies to be unedited and 100-percent real. So when the 29-year-old model posted a bikini photo on Instagram yesterday, rocking her thigh crease and stretch marks like the body-confident queen she is, we were like, yasss.

Unfortunately not everyone shared that sentiment. Soon after posting the photo, Graham was attacked by body-shamers who accused her of being overweight and promoting obesity. One critic, who went by the handle fightfan1973, went on a rant about how Graham’s supposed weight gain will eventually end in the fashion industry turning against her and the demise of her modeling career.

âœŒđŸœđŸ˜âœŒđŸœ

A post shared by A S H L E Y G R A H A M (@theashleygraham) on Aug 23, 2017 at 8:16pm PDT on

“I think its time for you to take a silent step away from the feminist ‘YES’ men and women who enable you to continue to do nothing about that ‘dunlap’ belly,” the shamer commented. “If you  don’t lose weight soon, then you’re just going to be like every other overweight 30-year-old descent-looking woman who celebrated some success at a younger age, but can’t get the same attention as you used to. Doors that were once opened for you (both professionally and socially) are going to be slammed shut so hard you won’t even know what hit you!!!!
So please, sweet heart! Lose that belly now.”

Are you freaking kidding me? The story of body-shaming on social media is becoming an old one, so we’ll let Graham’s loyal followers take it from here:

“@fightfan1973 Where do you see fat on her belly? Her legs are bigger bc she has hips,” someone commented.

“@fightfan1973 Let people live their lives as they want. No one tells you what not to become when you age!” Another added. “Big or small everyone is different. If you don’t like it, look away.

“@fightfan1973 Dude, seriously, shut the f--- up. You’re truly embarrassing yourself, ranting about something you have no expertise in or knowledge about,” a follower wrote. “She’s amazing and famous and needs no such advice from peons such as yourself.”

Bali Fun with Mama Graham💕

A post shared by A S H L E Y G R A H A M (@theashleygraham) on Aug 23, 2017 at 4:14am PDT on

“If people say this is obesity, they are wrong. She is a beautiful, fit, and healthy individual just slaying in her curvy body,” a follower wrote.

“Love the hip crease!” another added.

“Keep inspiring thousands of people out there to love themselves for what they are and not feel ashamed of their unique beauty,” someone commented.

Given that the photo is from Graham’s current girls’ trip with her mom in Bali, the model likely has no time or interest in giving these trolls her thoughts or energy — not now and not ever.

Same-sex marriage is still illegal in Australia, but many celebrities (like Chris Hemsworth) are doing their part to join the fight for marriage equality.

Unfortunately, homophobic groups also recognize the power of celebrity influence.

To catapult its campaign against same-sex marriage, one group decided to use Meghan Trainor's face for its "Vote No" ad.

"My vote is NO," the ad reads. "You need to let it go."

Fans were shocked to see Trainor — who has publicly supported the LGBTQ community throughout her career — in an anti-gay marriage campaign.

"I think a lot of my songs have a very universal message that can apply to different genres and communities, and I'm happy that some can be considered LGBT themes," Trainor told After Ellen two years ago. "I often dedicate 'Close Your Eyes' to my LGBTQ fans during my shows and tell everyone that they should love whoever they want."

She later hopped on Instagram and made her stance on gay marriage crystal clear.

This is everyone's least favorite royal family member, according to a new poll

royal familyThe INSIDER Summary:

  • Prince Charles is the least liked royal family member, according to a new poll from YouGov.
  • Only 36 percent of people polled found him to be a positive impact on the monarchy.
  • Prince Charles' low approval ratings stem from his failed marriage to Princess Diana.
  • The Queen has the highest approval rating of the royal family.

The British royal family tree is extensive, to say the least. It can be hard to keep track of every single supporting member of the proverbial regal cast, but the main players’ every move is more or less recorded at every available moment. We know what the royals eat when they’re out at restaurants (and what they’re banned from eating), we know when they make public appearances (and what they can’t do at public appearances), and what they wear while out in public (and what they can’t wear until they reach a certain age). But how do we feel about them, individually?

According to a new poll from YouGov, people do have pretty strong opinions about the royal family. The strongest negative feelings are toward the next in line to the throne, Prince Charles; only 36 percent of people polled found him to be a positive impact on the monarchy.

According to AOL, experts claim that the ire directed toward Charles stems from his failed marriage to Princess Diana. Diana seems to have had a similar sentiment about Charles, as she said, on the record, that the “worst day in her life” was her wedding day.

Numbers were much more favorable for the rest of the royal family; Prince William’s approval rating was 78 percent, Prince Harry’s was 77 percent, and Duchess Kate was at 73 percent. The Queen was given the highest rating of the royal family—in a previous YouGov poll, she was voted the greatest monarch in the history of the UK by 27 percent of those polled.
