Bill Nye is suing Disney claiming it withheld $28 million in profits from his science show

Bill Nye has spent the last decade trying to figure out Disney accounting and now he's finally had enough.

On Thursday, the man behind "The Science Guy" TV show filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court alleging that the studio owes him $28 million in profits from distribution of "Bill Nye the Science Guy."

According to the lawsuit, Nye has been suspicious of Disney's books since 2008, when Disney informed him that he owed the company close to $500,000 due to an "accounting error."

“The disturbing size of the supposed ‘accounting error,’ coupled with the seeming indifference of both (Buena Vista Television) and (the Walt Disney Company), left Mr. Nye suspicious of the veracity of the accounting statements he had been receiving from BVT over the years,” the suit states.

In 2008, after Nye sent his annual profit participation to the company, which amounted to $585,123, the company said it had made an accounting error and requested that he return $496,111, according to the suit.

Nye hired a lawyer and attempted to audit Disney's statements. However, that turned out to be a frustrating endeavor. The company allegedly said it was backlogged with audits and would not be able to get to Nye's for three or four years. Once Disney did, the company withheld documents, or said it would produce documents and then didn't, the lawsuit alleges.

The lawsuit alleges Disney owes Nye and the other owners of the show $28 million.

Nye and two producers launched "Bill Nye the Science Guy" in 1992, in partnership with KCTS, the Seattle PBS affiliate. The following year, Nye and the producers landed a distribution deal with Disney.

Business Insider contacted Disney for comment but did not receive an immediate response.

The INSIDER Summary:

  • Olivia Culpo shared her tips to snapping the perfect selfie.
  • She uses a simple two-step process: find good lighting and zero in on the detail you want to emphasize.
  • You may have to try out a few angles before you get the perfect shot.

Anyone who’s ever taken a selfie knows that it’s not the simple task it looks like. If you actually want to look good, you have to consider lighting, angles, background, and more. Taking an Instagram-worthy one has started to require almost as much artistic effort as we’d imagine Michelangelo put into painting the Sistine Chapel. Thankfully, Olivia Culpo wants to make our lives easier by offering her foolproof tips for snapping the perfect shot.

The 25-year-old Miss Universe winner spilled her secrets in an interview with Us Weekly, where she broke down the two-step process she follows every time she’s in front of an iPhone.

🐣

A post shared by Olivia Culpo (@oliviaculpo) on Jul 4, 2017 at 6:37am PDT on

Step one should be a no-brainer: good lighting. The pageant queen recommends stepping in front of a window and soaking up natural light if you want a ‘gram-worthy shot.

“Find a big window, the more sun the better. Definitely getting lighting is key and then once you get the lighting, look for your angles,” she said. “If you don’t have good lighting, don’t even try.”

Her second tip is to hone in on a statement detail you really want to emphasize, whether it’s a killer piece of your outfit or a cool element in the background.

“Zero in on exactly what you want your audience to see,” she said. “Whether it’s the shoe, the color, the trend, the handbag or the scenery, you have to make sure the picture captures that. Sometimes that takes trying a few different angles and different set-ups.”

There you have it. Olivia Culpo’s secret selfie-taking method: 1. Good lighting 2. Zero in on a statement detail. Now, to whip out your iPhones and start cranking out the sexy selfies.

A woman's simple 'secret' to a lasting marriage is going viral

wedding marriage couple loveThe INSIDER Summary:

  • Nikki Pennington has been married for 13 years.
  • Many ask her what's her secret to a lasting marriage.
  • Pennington wrote on Facebook that her "secret" is really to "get up and try again over and over every damn day."
  • The viral post had Pennington open up about the inevitable ups and downs of her marriage.
  • As Pennington said, relationships take work and at the end of the day, your relationship is worth it.

After thirteen years with her husband, Jer, Nikki Pennington often gets the question, "what's your secret?"

In a now-viral post to her Facebook page on Saturday, Pennington revealed her "secret"— which is that the only key is to "get up and try again over and over every damn day."

The typical responses to questions about the key to a successful marriage, as she wrote, include "don't go to bed angry" or "always say I love you when they leave." But Pennington says that she and her husband have broken those rules multiple times over.

"You guys, do you know how many times in eleven years Jer has taken residency on the couch prior to us having kids because we were mad?" she wrote. "Do you know how many times he's left without us saying 'I love you' because kids and life."

Instead of those clichés, she said, making a marriage work means trying even when you don't feel like it.

"It's hanging on tight when you are young, newly married and living on frozen dinners because it's all you can afford," she wrote. "It's staying up all night in tears with your first newborn child because you both are over tired, overwhelmed, and scared to death but you are in it together."

Pennington tells Refinery29 that she and her husband met through her grandfather, who knew Jer's family and introduced the two of them. Now, they've been together for thirteen years (married for eleven), and have three boys together.

As she said, relationships take work, and there are going to be difficult times, but that doesn't mean that your relationship isn't worth it, or that you aren't meant to be together.

"It simply means that obstacles in life happen, married or not," she tells us. "Nobody seems to want to talk about those things when you are getting married."

Her message has clearly resonated with other people. At the time of writing, her post has received over 95,000 shares. Pennington, for one, is glad that so many people have responded positively — "I'm thankful that others out there could read it and say, 'me too' and not feel alone thinking their marriage isn't 'perfect,'" she says.

Amber Rose wore a wig at the VMAs and people had no idea who she was

21 savage amber roseThe INSIDER Summary:

  • Known for her usual bleach blonde buzz cut, Amber Rose left fans in shock when she showed up at the VMAs in a wig.
  • Rose channeled old-school glam with her VMAs look.
  • Some fans didn't even recognize that it was Amber Rose until they got a closer look.
  • Rose looked happy standing alongside her new boyfriend 21 Savage.

Amber Rose is one of those celebrities with a very distinct look: Body for days, glowy, golden makeup, and buzzed bleach blonde hair that almost makes her look bald. That's why Rose wearing a wig at the 2017 VMAs felt like such a shock — and as usual, Twitter wasn't ready.

Let's ignore the fact that for many of us, the idea of securely attaching a seamless wig to a basically bald head is pretty confounding. Somehow, Rose made the whole thing look easy — even her hairline is flawless. It's an unconventionally old-school glam look for the influencer, who usually goes for wild outfits and almost never strays from her natural, barely-there hair — the star loves wigs, but rarely on the red carpet.

At the 2017 MTV VMAs, Rose paired her new hair look with a cutout black sequined gown, statement diamond earrings, and a dark burgundy lip. Twitter definitely had to take a minute when Rose hit the carpet — and some of them didn't even recognize her.

Here's Rose standing beside boyfriend 21 Savage, looking like a completely different person:

amber rose 21 savageNaturally, Twitter was shook.

Some felt like she looked like another red carpet fave.

Many recognized that even with her signature look disguised, Rose looked absolutely ecstatic on the red carpet.

And of course, some people simply didn't realize that Amber Rose was Amber Rose.

Rose has always known how to keep people talking — and rocking this glamorous lace front was just another one of her tricks. The bald has always given her fans life, but it turns out that a few (or several hundred thousand) extra strands can't keep Amber Rose from shining.

emilia clarke kit haringtonThe INSIDER Summary:

  • Emilia Carke and Kit Harington continue to prove they are co-star goals.
  • The two have been best friends for years, even though they didn't share a single scene together until season seven.
  • From Grammy appearances to adorable Instagram posts, these are some of Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington's cutest co-star moments.

Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke have the best friendship. These two hot actors, who play Jon Snow and Daenerys on ‘GoT,’ have had some adorable co-star moments over the years that we’ll never forget!

Even though Jon Snow and Daenerys didn’t share a scene together until "Game of Thrones" season 7, Kit Harington, 30, and Emilia Clarke, 30, have been besties for years. When they did start filming scenes together, they had a blast on set. Emilia posted an Instagram photo in Aug. 2017 of herself and Kit that will make your heart melt. Emilia and Kit were all dressed up as Daenerys and Jon, but Kit had on his glasses. Okay, Kit is even hotter WITH glasses! Emilia captioned the photo, Wait….. did I NOT tell you guys?! Um yeah. Now if he’d only bend the bloody knee there’ll be no problems….. #modragonsmoproblems #igot99problemsandjonsnowisone #whichroundsmeupto100problems #youknownothingjonsnow.”

Emilia also posted a hilarious Instagram video of Kit pretending to be a dragon when the cameras weren’t rolling. Seriously, Kit and Emilia are just the cutest. During a break in filming, Kit and Emilia went to a concert with co-star Nathalie Emmanuel, 28. Of course Emilia snapped some epic photos of her night out with her co-stars! When Kit was on the cover of "Entertainment Weekly" in 2016, Emilia grabbed the magazine and posted the most incredible Instagram selfie. She acted like she was totally surprised that Jon Snow was alive. LOL, Emilia!

Wherever these two co-stars are, they always have so much fun. At the 2016 Emmys, the two gorgeous co-stars struck a pose in what’s possibly the most beautiful photo ever! Even though Jon Snow and Daenerys are falling in love on "Game of Thrones," don’t expect a romance to happen between Kit and Emilia. Kit has been in a loving relationship with co-star Rose Leslie, 30, who played Ygritte, since 2012.

The "Game of Thrones" season 7 finale is going to be one of the show’s most epic episodes ever. Will Jon Snow and Daenerys finally give in to their feelings? Kit and Emilia’s chemistry is FIRE!

Kit Harington & Emilia Clarke looked incredible at the 2016 Emmys. Ice and fire together and looking so fierce!

The Rock San Andreas 3

The INSIDER Summary:

  • One of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's films helped save a 2-year-old's life.
  • 10-year-old Jacob O'Connor learned how to perform CPR and chest compressions by watching the movie "San Andreas."
  • This knowledge came in handy when O'Connor found his younger brother laying face down in a pool.
  • The Rock has since invited the whole family to visit the set of his new movie "Skyscraper."

Most celebrities want their movies to have a lasting impact, but Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson probably had no idea his film "San Andreas" would actually save lives. This entertaining action flick also taught a 10-year-old boy about chest compressions, which allowed him to save his 2-year-old brother from drowning.

Johnson posted about the incredible tale on his Instagram on Friday, explaining in a video, "You know, there is a little 10-year-old boy out there and his name is Jacob O'Connor. He's a real-life hero. He couldn't find his little 2-year-old brother, Dylan, so he went out back and found little Dylan laying face-down in their pool. Jacob pulled him out, remained calm, started administering CPR and chest compressions and saved his little brother's life."

Johnson added, "He learned how to do this by watching this big, brown, bald tattooed guy in his favorite movie, "San Andreas." Jacob, I'm so proud of you — so much so, I have got to meet you. I have got to shake the hand of a real-life hero."

Oh, and it gets better, because Johnson — being the amazing man and real-life hero that he is — isn't just letting this story go with an Instagram video. He also invited Jacob, his little brother, Dylan, and their family to join him on the set of his new film, "Skyscraper."

"When you come to my movie sets, it's like "Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory," dude, because you can eat all the sweets you want and it's all free," Johnson promised. "I'll see you next week buddy."

And you thought Johnson couldn't get any cooler.

Selena Gomez_1The INSIDER Summary:

  • Selena Gomez debuted a bolder slick, pulled-back bob.
  • The star showed off her new look while giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at her latest project.
  • Gomez gave no hints as to what the secret project is, but we know that her new hair do will definitely play a part.

With summer coming to an end, Selena Gomez is already welcoming the fall with a brand-new haircut. The star just gave fans a behind-the-scenes look into her latest photo shoot on Instagram stories, which included a bold red lip and an even bolder slick, pulled back bob — also known as LA's "most-requested cut," according to local stylist Sal Salcedo.

Gomez's new haircut complements the singer's edgy look from her "Fetish" music video that dropped last month. Her hair is daring, eye-catching, intriguing, and subtly beautiful all at the same time. It's no wonder one of the country's trendiest cities are obsessed with cutting their locks that way.

Aside from all the Selenators who lost it to her new 'do, her boyfriend The Weeknd also couldn't help show his approval of the hairstyle. As soon as the former Disney Channel star's makeup artist Hung Vanngo posted a selfie of Gomez's completed transformation, the "Starboy" singer instantly came through with a like. It follows the happy couple's adorable habits of showing support for one another via social media.

For now, Gomez didn't dive into the reason behind her shoot or hair, but there's undoubtedly something big coming our way. She has dropped a couple of new songs in the last few days, including a collaboration with DJ Marshmello and a remix of her hit single "Fetish" with Galantis. In other words, she's definitely up to something, and it'll be interesting to see how her incredible head or hair will play a role into whatever she has up her sleeve.

JK Rowling is urging Harry Potter fans to stop keeping owls as pets

harry potter hedwigThe INSIDER Summary:

  • "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling is asking fans not keep pet owls at home.
  • The Suffolk Owl Sanctuary released a list of reasons why owls should not be kept as pets, including the fact that they require a lot of time and attention.
  • "Harry Potter" fans likely wanted an owl of their own without realizing the level of commitment.
  • The number of abandoned owls has increased since 2012.

Hedwig was plenty cute in the "Harry Potter" movies — but that doesn't mean you should keep your own snowy owl at home.

"Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling tweeted a warning on Friday, asking fans not to keep pet owls at home.

"I've just read a very disturbing story about owls kept as pets. Much like making Horcruxes, this practise belongs in fiction. Please don't," Rowling tweeted.

The Suffolk Owl Sanctuary in the U.K. has a list of reasons why you don't want to keep an owl at home.

"Beautiful, majestic, and as awe-inspiring as they may be, in captivity they can be noisy, smelly and dirty and will need a lot of your time, care and attention," the sanctuary explains in its website. "They require a regular, specialist diet, and, in our opinion, to be kept properly, they need a large, purpose-built aviary, which can be expensive to build and maintain."

There's also the fact that owls are natural predators, the sanctuary points out. That means they could be dangerous animals to have around other pets as well as children.

This isn't the first time Rowling has spoken out against keeping owls as pets.

"If anybody has been influenced by my books to think an owl would be happiest shut in a small cage and kept in a house, I would like to take this opportunity to say as forcefully as I can, 'you are wrong,'" the author said in 2012. "The owls in 'Harry Potter' books were never intended to portray the true behavior or preference of real owls. If your owl-mania seeks concrete expression, why not sponsor an owl at a bird sanctuary, where you can visit and know that you have secured him or her a happy, healthy life."

In 2012, U.K. owl sanctuaries saw an uptick in abandoned pet owls. At the time, sanctuary workers told U.K. news outlets that it was likely because "Harry Potter" fans wanted their own owls without realizing the level of commitment necessary to care for the animals.

Hurricane Harvey has devastated the Texas Gulf Coast, displacing tens of thousands of people and causing unprecedented damage. But one Texas resident is bringing some much-needed light to the dark and stormy skies.

Deandre Wilson grew up watching dance movies like "Stomp the Yard" and "You Got Served." So when the rain began to pour, the 16-year-old student athlete at Manor High School in Austin, Texas, decided to recreate a scene from "You Got Served" where a character dances in the rain.

His cousin posted a video of him dancing in the rain that has since been retweeted nearly 75,000 times.

Other people began posting dance videos in response.

While Wilson said he's received some negativity, he's glad that the video and dance challenge it spawned are giving people a reason to smile during the tropical storm.

Princess Diana's personal chef reveals her favorite healthy dishes

princess dianaThe INSIDER Summary:

  • Princess Diana's personal chef Darren McGrady revealed Princess Diana's favorite meals.
  • Diana would often ask McGrady to make healthy versions of her decadent favorites.
  • McGrady enjoyed the challenge of altering all of his recipes to make them healthy enough for Princess Diana.

It’s been 20 years since Princess Diana died in a tragic car crash, but her legacy of giving to and inspiring others may be stronger than ever.

As the anniversary of her death nears, the people closest to her have come out to share their most treasured and personal memories of a princess who was beloved by many, but really only truly known by a handful of insiders. Darren McGrady, Princess Diana's personal chef, is one of those insiders. He’s now sharing his own memories of a woman he watched and cooked for over the last, and perhaps best, years of her life.

McGrady, who worked for Diana and the royal family from 1993 until she died in 1997, shared a few tidbits about the princess in his book, "The Royal Chef at Home," his second cookbook that is set for release on September 1.

“My first job at Buckingham Palace was right at the very bottom — chef No. 20 of 20. I worked on the vegetable section cooking for palace staff. It was horrible. Frozen vegetables for 300,” he shares in his book, excerpted in USA Today.

It wasn’t until he traveled to Balmoral Castle, the Queen’s summer home in Scotland, that he met Diana.

“Over time, I became a friendly, familiar face to her, although I was never her friend. I was staff. I never called her Diana,” he said. “It was 'Your Royal Highness' to the end, even after she lost the title and would say, ‘You don't have to call me that.’”

The two bonded over the Balmoral kitchen sink, and when Diana eventually divorced Prince Charles, she asked that McGrady come and be her personal chef at Kensington Palace.

By then, McGrady said, Diana had grown into her own and had gotten help for her eating disorder. It was then, he added, that she had developed a love of healthy eating and would often request that McGrady make versions of her decadent favorites with healthier ingredients.

“One time she said: ‘Make me the tomato mousse you made for President Ronald Reagan at Windsor Castle,’ and I said, 'You can't have that Your Royal Highness it's got mayonnaise, sour cream, it's got double cream.' She said, 'Well, make me a fat-free version.'"

He then started changing all of his recipes, which he found exciting as it was something totally new in the food world at the time.

From her love of juicing, to fresh fish and vegetables, McGrady shared all the princess’ favorites. The only time she’d indulge, he said, was when she was with her boys, Prince William and Prince Harry, who were allowed to eat whatever they wanted.

“I would take the fat off her chicken, and with the potatoes, I would dip them in egg white and paprika and put them to one end of the dish and she would know they were for her,” McGrady explained of how he would help Diana enjoy the same meals as her children. “She wanted to eat healthy. She looked the best she ever did. She never ate red meat. She loved fish, stuffed bell peppers.”

Following her death, McGrady said she continued to inspire him through her vast charity work. Now, he too takes part in giving back to the community by cooking for the homeless and providing his services when he can, just as Diana would.

He added, “That, for me, is how her legacy lives on.”

You can still see Kit Harington in a new series during the 'Game of Thrones' off season

$

jon snow game of thronesThe INSIDER Summary:

  • "Game of Thrones" star Kit Harington is set to star in a new historical drama for BBC One.
  • The three-part series called "Gunpowder" will recount an actual historical event known as the "Gunpowder Plot."
  • Harington is said to have helped develop the project.

We know that "Game of Thrones" only has one short season to go before ending forever. We rationally understand that. But with the finale for season 7 still fresh in our minds, this news about Kit Harington is hitting us hard. The "GoT" star will be in a new historical drama for BBC One, alongside Liv Tyler.

Called "Gunpowder," Harington's new gig is a three-part series about an actual historical event known as the "Gunpowder Plot." In the 17th Century Harington's character, Robert Catesby, develops a plan to blow up the House of Lords and kill King James I. The event is commemorated to this day in the United Kingdom as "Guy Fawkes Day." Guy Fawkes, Catesby's co-conspirator and will be played by Tom Cullen from "Downton Abbey." Liv Tyler will play Anne Vaux, Catesby's cousin who gets caught up in the plot.

BBC One posted a sneak peek of the new show on Facebook this Monday with the caption "Autumn Is Coming." Too soon, BBC. It's still too soon.

The trailer sweeps around Cullen and Harington as the "GoT" actor does an expositional voice over: "My wife is dead, my name disgraced, my friends and family tortured and hanged," he says. "We must strike at the root. Fawkes will light the fuse and I, Robert Catesby, will blow the king and all his men to hell."

It's hard to imagine Harington as anyone but Jon Snow. One redeeming quality is that it seems like Harington really cares about this project. The series is produced in conjunction with his own Thriker Films production company and Variety notes that Harington helped develop it. And from what we've seen, Catesby looks just as heroic and determined as our own Jon Snow.

With the end of "Game of Thrones" approaching faster than we'd like, it's about time we get used to seeing Harington in new roles. Plus, "Gunpowder" will be a nice dose of Kit Harington until season eight of "GoT" premieres in 2019.

Prince George may look exactly like his father did at his age, but he won't be wearing the same school uniform. Prince William and Prince Harry attended Wetherby School, an all-boys prep school near Kensington Palace, when they were kids. Prince George's school is co-ed and a bit further from the palace — about half an hour drive.

thomas's battersea

The school is described as "slightly chaotic"

According to the latest edition of "The Good Schools Guide," Thomas's Battersea is “a big, busy, slightly chaotic school for cosmopolitan parents who want their children to have the best English education money can buy.”  It costs $23,000 per year.

Prince William and Kate Middleton hope to be there "as much as possible"

According to People, Prince George's parents want to drop him off and pick him up from school just like any other parent.

12 times the royal family broke their own protocol

royal familyThe INSIDER Summary:

  • Given how public their lives are, the royal family has extensive protocol to follow to maintain their image.
  • But that doesn't mean they don't break the rules from time to time.
  • From giving out hugs and autographs to traveling together, these are 12 times the royal family broke their own protocol.

When Princess Diana didn’t act like a royal

The People’s Princess is most remembered for her frank, approachable attitude. She openly discussed her eating disorder and the importance of mental health. She met HIV positive patients and hugged them. She gave candid interviews about her failing marriage with Prince Charles. While her manner of conduct was not expected from a member of the royal family, it was very much appreciated by the public.

When Princess Diana picked her engagement ring

We already know Princess Diana had an incredible sense of fashion, and her taste in jewelry is no exception. After Prince Charles proposed, she got an engagement ring with a 12-carat oval blue sapphire surrounded by 14 solitaire diamonds. However, she didn’t get it custom made as royal brides-to-be usually do. She selected hers from a Garrard jewelry collection catalog. Critics called it the “commoner’s sapphire” for that reason, even though it looks anything but common. Prince William used that exact ring when he proposed to Kate Middleton, and the Duchess still wears it today.

When Princess Diana sent her son to public school

With this year marking the 20th anniversary of her death, rare photos of Princess Diana and her sonsare surfacing across the Internet. They capture just how hands-on she was as a mother. She took them to amusement parks, they ate at McDonald’s together, and maybe most surprisingly, she sent them to public school. When Prince William started at Mrs. Jane Mynor’s nursery school at age 3, he became the first heir to the British throne to not start his education within the palace. Prince Harry later joined him at the same school.

How a 24-year-old star is helping to shatter unrealistic body standards for women

demi lovato fableticsThe INSIDER Summary:

  • After struggling with her own body image, Demi Lovato is now standing up against unrealistic body standards for women with her new Fabletics line.
  • Lovato admits she's most proud of the fact that her new collection takes on body positivity.
  • The singer's journey to love her own body hasn't been easy.
  • Lovato embraced her body after posting a photo to Instagram showing off her biggest insecurity.

It’s no secret that Demi Lovato has struggled with her body image, with a public eating disorder battle and a stint in rehab in her past. But that was then. Now, Lovato, who recently turned 25, is happier and healthier than ever, she says—and she’s taking that positivity to the design room, with a second collection for Demi Lovato for Fabletics, her activewear collaboration with Kate Hudson.

And while Lovato’s Fabletics line—which was born out of a chance meeting with Hudson at (appropriately enough) the gym—features standout pieces like criss-cross-banded leggings and mesh hoodies, what she’s most proud of is her collection’s take on body positivity. The line, which Lovato also said people can wear “at any age and still look cute,” ranges in sizes from XS to 3X.

demi lovato fabeltics“We live in a day and age where everybody is different,” says Lovato. “We all have different body types, different shapes and sizes, and it’s important not to exclude anybody.” Body inclusivity is something Lovato knew she wanted to champion early on, after growing up around thinner body types in the media and noticing how that affected her as a kid.

“It’s important to teach girls body positivity at a young age,” Lovato says. “I remember being very little and having body image issues. I remember thinking that I was supposed to look a certain way.”

Given her experience, Lovato was careful not to perpetuate the same body standards she saw growing up. As for how body diversity has progressed since she was younger, Lovato admits, “We’ve come a long way,” with people becoming more aware of the need for diversity to be featured prominently in the public eye.

demi lovato fabletics“There are tons of different body shapes and sizes all over the world. I wish I had seen that when I was younger. Had it been more prominent then, I might not have had body image issues at a young age,” Lovato says. “When you see all different shapes and sizes, you’re able to look at yourself and know that you’re unique and beautiful the way you are.”

However, Lovato’s journey to learn to love her body hasn’t been easy. While she’s become confident in her curves, Lovato continued to have insecurities with her stomach, a body part she usually covered up with high-waisted clothing. “Whenever you think of what you should like, people think of the stomach,” Lovato says. “I’d never shown my belly button that much just because I feel very vulnerable when I do.”

It was only recently, when Lovato took a picture of her stomach and posted it to Instagram, that she started to embrace the body part. The photo has since racked up 2 million likes and hundreds of comments praising Lovato for opening up about her insecurities.

“When I took that picture, I felt really confident. I was like, ‘I want to share with the world how I feel right now,’” Lovato says. “I posted it and I felt great. I’m putting my physical and mental health before everything in my life. It’s paying off.”

And though Lovato has seen physical results from her newfound obsession with fitness, something she fell in love with two and a half years ago after “feeling sick and lazy all the time,” she believes, first and foremost, working out
is about health. “I have a nutritionist named Dan Leith and we always talk about how we eat and the way we train is about being healthy, and physical results are just a side effect,” Lovato says.

Though Lovato admits she still has insecurities with her body, she’s learning to feel more comfortable with seeing them as assets rather than flaws. “Everybody deals with body image issues and insecurities. I do everything in my power to take care of myself and that’s all I can do,” Lovato says. “When I do have an insecurity, I just think to myself, ‘You know what? I’m doing what I can and if things aren’t changing, then it’s a flaw that is supposed to be there, which makes it not a flaw anymore.’”

As summer nears its final days, Lovato had this to say to her fans who have yet to step out in a swimsuit because of body insecurities: “Your best bikini body is the body that you have right now,” Lovato says. “No matter what society says, the skin that you’re in is completely enough and beautiful.”

These are the names Prince William and Prince Harry were almost given at birth

prince william prince harry

The INSIDER Summary:

  • Princess Diana once revealed in an interview that Prince William and Prince Harry were almost given different names.
  • Princes Charles wanted to name them Albert and Arthur.
  • Diana said she shut those names down because they sounded "too old."

Can you even imagine a world without Prince William and Prince Harry? It almost happened. Well, sort of. Prince William and Prince Harry the people were always going to exist, but it turns out that if their dad, Prince Charles, had had his way they both would have had different names.

It's not too surprising that Charles and Diana would have wanted to give their kids classically regal-sounding names, as is the tradition of the English royal family. But in a recorded interview, the late Diana revealed that she picked the first names for both their boys because Charles had names picked out that she thought sounded a little too dated for '80s babies.

When asked, "Who chose Harry's name?" Diana responded, "I did," and added, "I chose William and Harry, but Charles did the rest."

As fans of the royal family will know, it's common for members of the family to have a whole bunch of names — William is actually Prince William Arthur Philip Louis, and Harry's full name is Prince Henry Charles Albert David. Even though he got to pick everything but the boys' first names, Diana revealed that he had opinions about those too, but she shut him down.

"He wanted Albert and Arthur, and I said no," she explained. "Too old!"

Of course, should either of the boys become king, it's likely that he'll change his name. Even though there's some question whether Charles will actually take the throne or if he'll abdicate it to Prince William when his turn comes up, he's expected to be called King George VII, should he take his place as the next heir for the seat.

Kendall Jenner is being honored as 'Fashion Icon of the Decade' — and the internet is not okay with it

kendall jennerThe INSIDER Summary:

  • Kendall Jenner will be given the Fashion Icon of the Decade Award at the 2017 Fashion Media Awards.
  • The internet is confused why she's winning the award considering a decade ago she was only 11.
  • Many people feel it's not fair to have Jenner represent the last ten years.

Kendall Jenner will be given the Fashion Icon of the Decade Award at the 2017 Fashion Media Awards…and the Internet hasn’t had the best reaction to this decision. Here’s what the haters had to say.

"The Daily Front Row" will host its fifth annual Fashion Media Awards on Sept. 8, but it seems they’ve made quite a controversial decision regarding who to give one major award to! It was announced on Aug. 28 that Kendall Jenner, 21, will be the recipient of the Fashion Icon of the Decade honor, which a lot of people on Twitter seem to disagree with. The reason? Well, a decade ago…she was only 11. Plus, she’s only been modeling and prominent in the fashion industry for the last five years or so, so many people feel it’s not fair to have her represent the last ten years.

“Full offense but Kendall is such a bland/boring model & is no where near being an “icon” for fashion…at all,” one person wrote. “This is so undeserved.” Clearly, some people are being super rude about this. One person even wrote, “Awarding Kendall Jenner with fashion icon of the decade is like awarding Oscar Pistorius with husband of the decade.” In case you didn’t know, Oscar was convicted of murder after he shot and killed his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp in 2013. Yeah, that’s a pretty harsh comparison!

Still, Kendall has gotten a lot of support, too. “This is pretty major…congrats @KendallJenner,” Rachel Zoe tweeted to the 20-year-old. A fan also posted an epic collage of photos of Kendall in high-fashion ensembles with the caption, “Y’all acting like Kendall Jenner doesn’t really deserve a fashion icon award.” SLAY! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly spending time with the Queen following their romantic getaway

prince harry meghan markleThe INSIDER Summary:

  • Prince Harry and Meghan Markle returned to London from their romantic getaway.
  • Markle isn't filming "Suits" right now, and is reportedly spending some extended time with Harry and possibly the Queen in London.
  • It's unclear if Meghan Markle has officially met the Queen yet.
  • Markle will likely be there with Prince Harry for the anniversary of Princess Diana's death.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are getting cozy in London! The couple are shacking up while she’s on a break from filming ‘Suits’, and they may be hanging out with Queen Elizabeth II! How fun is that?

No offense Wills and Kate, but Prince Harry, 32, and Meghan Markle, 35, are the reigning royal It Couple! Harry and girlfriend Meghan were spotted arriving at London’s Heathrow airport on August 29, after spending a three-week vacation together in Zambia. An eyewitness saw them taking the express train out of the terminal like a totally normal people. “The pair wore baseball caps and sat in the first class carriage, reading magazines and chatting quietly,” a source told E! News. “[Meghan] was smiley and giddy looking.” The eyewitness said that they weren’t wearing rings. Bummer!

Meghan isn’t filming her hit show "Suits" right now, so she’s reportedly enjoying her break by spending time in London with her love. Even better? They’re reportedly staying together at his father, Prince Charles‘ place in Birkhall! It’s going to be quite the family affair, especially because his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, is nearby at Balmoral. Does that mean they’ll have a nice meeting together?

It’s unclear if Meghan’s actually met the queen yet, but it’s a definite possibility, seeing as she’s spent plenty of time in London during her yearlong relationship with Harry. If she hasn’t met her, this reported royal meeting could mark a major step in their relationship. We can’t wait to find out!

It’s really special that Meghan’s in London right now, considering Thursday, August 31 is the 20-year anniversary of Harry’s mother, Princess Diana‘s death. It’s so lovely that Meghan made a transatlantic voyage to be there by her boyfriend’s side during what will likely be a very difficult, and emotional, day. Harry opened up about Diana’s death in the documentary "Diana, 7 Days," which occurred when he was only 12 years old. When he learned of his mother’s death, he felt, “Disbelief. Refuse to accept it. There was no sudden outpour of grief, of course there wasn’t. I don’t think anybody in that position at that age would be able to understand the concept of what it actually means going forward.” We’re sure he’ll be okay on this terrible anniversary with Meghan by his side.
